Wikipedia has some information in English about the JGSDF and their equipment. You can check it out here.

The official JGSDF page also has very detailed information about their equipment, but unfortunately this is only available in Japanese. You can navigate their equipment page by selecting a category on the left and clicking on the pictures. I can provide you English translations of some pages if necessary.

*edit*

Here's a list of all the transports I could find on their page. Some vehicles like the Type 89 have both a gun and a troop compartment, but I have not included these in the list since you seem more interested in normal transports.

Troop transports:

Type 73

Type 96

LAV

HMV

1/2t Truck

1 1/2t Ambulance

Motorbike (reconnaissance)

Equipment transports:

Type 99

3 1/2t Truck

Oversize Transport

Hope this helps!

Few years ago, when I was playing with 3dmax I found quite nice, hi-res photos of an ak47, M16A2 and an ak103. Recently, I dug them up, so I uploaded them to my tiny server.

Maybe someone will find them useful.

Copy and paste links to your browser.

Does anybody have high res blueprints of a PT-76 or BTR-50?

Edit: Also a 2S25 Sprut would be excellent as well.

Unfortunately this is all that I have with regard to PT-76 drawings at this time.

Does anybody know where I could get fairly high res left and right shots, well lit(as in, it's not a silhouette) of the M60 machine gun. Something that I could use as a blueprint. I've got some gifs, but they are angled(meaning that the gun drawing is drawn with a slight angle and that gives a disproporitionated drawing and in turn, model), I've found some airsoft M60 shots, but I'd really like to find some more nice ones, so if you've got them I'd really like to have them.

Hey m8. Try this site http://www.dodmedia.osd.mil/ and type in the word: M60

I just tried it and you will get around 1000 hits "pics" of it. smile_o.gif

I think I missunderstood your post. I don't think you will get blueprints on that site. confused_o.gif

Does anyone have or know of any decent-quality images of the Alvis Stormer (preferably the basic APC variant, but anything will do)? The only ones I've managed to find have either been tiny, fuzzy, or tiny and fuzzy.

Found a few pics of Malaysian Stormer APCs. Stormers are probably the least common CVR(t) varient, especially the APC.

Big enough?

Stormer HVM's almost the same as the APC version, just has a Starstreak turret and targeting system on top. They're also much easier to find pics of.

I know I have posted a request about Japanese equipment in this thread already, regarding Japanese light vehicles.

A big thanks to da12thMonkey for providing some very useful links, we are still looking for more detailed material.

This time, we are in need of some detailed pictures or blue prints of the Type 64 and 89 rifles, currently used by Japanese self defence force. However the weapons they use are very rare in the western world, as they have never been exported (says wiki) hence we are finding it very hard to model the weapons correctly, from a few scattered weapons pics on Google.

The Type 89 rifle seems to be more common, than the 64, and there are a few more images on Google, epically air soft variants.

If anyone is Japanese, or has access to either an air soft rifle or the real thing, it would be hugely beneficial, to make them as accurate as possible.

Many thanks everyone, keep up the great material for the modder’s.

Nick

Wasn't there a JGSDF mod for OFP? "Battle of Hokkaido" or

something? Have you tried to contact them?

Kooky,

I currently have unlimited access to a couple of Stormer track links that are in like new condition.  I would be willing to take a couple pictures and measurements if you are interested.  Just spam my PM inbox a few times until I get around to it.

Hi,

Bit of a strange request, but I have been trying to track down an image of the colour "RAL 7027".  I have found 7026 but the difference between that and 7024 are quite large so I figure that possibly I should find 7027.

So does anyone by any chance have a fairly accurate image of the colour, which I could please take a look at?

Thank you for any help smile_o.gif

Hello,

I have been gathering information on the Mi-24 (and other helicopter systems). I would like to pass on some of this material to those developing improved hinds for this sim. To start:

While hinds were largely immune to small arms and flown fearlessly they were not entirely invulnerable. Many military doctrines (eg. West German) state that any weapon is to be used against slow, low flying aircraft. It improves playability to have a hind version that is vulnerable to small arms.

Hinds in Afganistan often carried heavy machine guns and grenades for self defense. They also carried extra rockets so that the crew could partially reload their pods in the field.

Most Russian rocket pods have very high dispersion. This is often overlooked but very important for accurate modeling.

It would be nice to see hinds with doorgunners, 10 x 100kg bomb payloads, rocket dispersion, and a few other weapons in the future.

Some references that may be of use

Updated weapons information:

A discussion on rocket dispersion:

Pictures of the door gunner positions:

Video footage of the gunner positions in use:

More rare footage:

Mi-35/24PN footage:

Some reading:

http://www.faqs.org/docs/air/avhind1.html

An excellent set of articles (good weapon info can be found in other parts of this site):

http://www.airwar.ru/ah.html

Some drawings:

http://www.airwar.ru/other/draw_c.html

P.S. the Hind naturally looses some lift due to the stub wings when it is hovering. It peaks in forward flight where the wing anhedral easily pulls the helicopter into turns. There is a risk of the rotor striking the tail during abrupt maneuvers.

I really need some high-res MI-28 blueprints, there are only som very lo-res ones floating around on the net, and these are also incorrect compared to photos. Good quality walk arounds i have, but no prints and it's a must to get i right. There must be good bluerpints somewhere, or this wouldn't be possible.

Appreciate the help!
