The Valley of Elephants

GlOhczz.jpg

Summary

A sniper mission for two players based around the fictional event of encirclement of NVA company during Vietnam War. The story is heavily inspired by Robert F. Burgerss' "Hatchkok and Burke's Elephant Valley Hamburger Hunt" short story, which, in turn, apparently based on a true event.

Length: approx. 2 hours.
Dedicated server compatible: yes.
Singleplayer: not tested but you should be able to play with AI (good luck with that!) if you host a multiplayer session.
Realism level: medium. Please note that this is a sniper mission which means that you get to sit at one place for hours staring through binoculars at lifeless landscape waiting for a target that may never show up, so you better get yourself some snacks and keep a glass jar with reliable lid nearby. (And no, you don't get an M107 and there are no big silo storages from Chernogorsk in Vietnam).

Story

During the latest US offensive an Vietcong company was cut off from the main NVA forces and became trapped in the forests of Da Krong region. NVA conducted several attempts to relieve the trapped unit, all of which were prevented by the US Army regiments, leaving the company no option but to fight it's way out to a friendly territory.

Since it isn't known which escape route the company's commander would choose, US Army, in attempt to prevent the escape of trapped NVA unit, amassed blocking forces along the most probable escape routes, leaving only observing teams at the rest. Your team's task is to reach the Valley of Elephants no later than 0550 and establish an observing position. Once an observing position is established, your team must engage all NVA forces should they try to flee the region using that route (designated 'Delta').
