WIP Rifleman  loadout

c1fc3f8875d2.jpg

There is no 'riflemans' among special forces... in general term.I don't know how to translate this to Russian(Боец СпН(<weapon>) could be the closer one),but in English they called 'Operator',cuz they're all have training far above than generic soldier have.

Another point is - 5.45 as silenced weapon are unpopular(As I see subsonic ammo in loadout).7.62x39 and 9x39 are far much superior for this role.

It's just a tips,but..

-Give them standart ammo instead of subsonic.

-This DTK isn't real silencer,so it's ok.

If you aiming for silenced weapon then:

-AKMS with PBS-1 and VSS for field action teams(Like GRU Recons).

-AS and VSS for heavy assault teams in CQC(Like MVD units).

thanks  for feedback.

Rifleman-I just meant operator with no special role( sniper >medic>at). I rename this unit to Squad Lider maybe.

I will change weapon and ammo in release version.

I want to make all closer to real life

Well, for urban fighting in loud sounds around may works.Nothing more.

Disadvantages of suppressed 5.45 are high,so I think suppressor here used more to hide bore flash than sound.Kinda AK bolt moves too lound. You can hear it at distance of 200 meters in complete silence(Depends on enviroment).

They won't penetrate even basic body armor.Actually suppressed AKM also can't,but they're at least fire heavier bullet, which have more stopping power and it's more resistant to wind.

AKMS are also rare, but it's still in use by SF,primary used with silencers.

I don't know any Russian SF soldiers, but I do know a few American ones, and they prefer to have supersonic rounds instead of subsonic- for the kind of fighting the guys I know do the ranges are rather short, so the additional velocity and performance from a supersonic round is considered better than a subsonic.

However, if you do want to have a unit running subsonic rounds, it might be a good idea to have a soldier dedicated to it, with a special weapon for roles like sentry elimination or some such- this would be a 300. AAC for US, but something like the VSS Vintorez for Russians. I know the VSS is still used in various Russian special forces groups today, so that would be a viable option for you.

But do russians using ocp uniform? Maybe it's temporary, just for Syria operations?

Yes, some Russian Special Forces are now wearing a multicam variant for deployments (and for publicity photos) in some units- not all units have MC, some wear SURPAT or other camos.

Not sure if it's a per-deployment thing, as I have no definite sources of Russian SF in other areas wearing a different camo that would be more suited to a particular area (for example Chinese border or the Pacific) apart from Russia and surrounds, or the Middle East.

(EDIT- to get around the 'Rifleman' issue, I just name the standard soldier after the unit- 'SEAL', 'GROM', 'Ranger' ect ect, with specialist roles being for example 'SEAL Autorifleman.')

That's exacly reason why AKMS with PBS-1 still widely used by SF and Recon teams. As example... both AKMS,VSS and AK-74M.I can't find PBS-1 right now,but trust me,they still used.

p.s.VSS are quote new gun, compared to other guns.It appers only in '87.Also - it's special purposed weapon, they're never been used wide.Talking about SF,they're actually scrap old retired weapon to service.Such as APS pistol/SMG.

At this moment I`m try to make Syria themed  SSO VS RF.

You right -subsonic ammo for standart AK not good variant.

Also I`m choose 5,45 for weight reason. SF need to be fast unit.

it's actually disscussion for many hours. But still... I understand you're going make SF units in Multicam and similar camos.

Kinda roleplaying are okay for special forces. My friend served in SF unit... they're roleplayed regular peacekeeper unit during some operation.

If they're need to be fast - they better get APC or at least ATVs. :P

Weight isn't the hardest problem for SF operators, cuz they carry far much than average rifleman in regular unit in full loadout.

There could be many reasons of usage(or not usage) some specific types of weapons. So they can choose loadout as they need.

as example of Syria:

1)For close encounters they're use suppressed AK-74M,because they're primary enemy have no body armor and battlefield is usually high dencity town,so effect of wind are minimal. This weapon seems effective here.

2)As well because of town combat - enemy usually hold the buildings. That means they're hard targets(Like head in window) for average rifles.Thats explains, why they're use precision bolt-action sniper rifles on tripods.

btw... here is a PBS-1 on AKMS
