CHARLIE IS OUT !!!!

 

 

 

Well a sudden surprise for all our loyal fans :) We have decided to release charlie version complete with new Apex Foliage on our islands and some really cool updated weapons for you to blast your way through the new jungle. There are a few new choppers to terrorize the Viet Cong with too namely the AH-1 Cobra Gunship and the CH47 " Guns a go go" and transport versions ... We have also updated a few of our aging weapon models and made a host of fixes to make the mod to make run a lot smoother than our bravo Build...

- Maps require Apex DLC

- Fixes Apex popups, added Apex foliage and assets to Doung and Da Krong maps

 

Added:

- AH1g Cobra - 5 types

- Mi8 Hip - 3 types

- CH47a Chinook - 3 types

- new SOG and SEAL units and kit

- new high quality models for M16, XM177, MAS49/56, Thompson, BAR, AK47, K50m, Type50, and M2 mortar

- Added 22mm rifle grenades (frag, HEAT, smoke, WP and lume) (WIP)

- Added speargun (WIP)

 

Fixes:

- Weapon accuracy fixes

- Fixed skins of various grenades

- Reduced grenade frag damage

- Improved flare illumination for better night fighting

- Fixed handheld ANPVS-2 scope

- Fixed virtual arsenal base weapons

- Fixed door-gunners on UH1

- chopper music overhaul

IMPORTANT NOTES : THIS VERSION REQUIRES THE TANOA / APEX  DLC TO GET 100% OUT OF THIS RELEASE.

 

If you do not have this DLC Our Islands may Show little or no Foliage or objects. You also may not be able to connect to MP servers running Charlie Version.

 

Additional uniforms pack included :

 

In the mod folder is the optional uniforms folder containing the PBO's. You will need to move those files into the @unsung_3.0_Charlie > addons folder to make them show in-game.

However, I didn't expect it so soon!

 

Congrats for the release!

 

BTW, as it's named "charlie", is it more vietcong side oriented? :P :P :P

Anyway, I guess we won't see any surf board on this one :P :P :P

My First Day In Country:

 

Since this was my second tour of duty in the Nam I was transported directly to my new base of operations. After gearing up, my orders were to catch up with a Search and Destroy patrol off to the south east a short distance away, I knew the patrol was in contact from the occasional gun fire I could hear.

While making my way through the thick jungle with its oppressive heat and humidity a smile came to my face "Same old S---t just a different day".

 

My thoughts were brought back to reality when I hear a voice cry out "They're flanking left left left" hell I was on the left. I got down behind a big tree and started scanning the area and about two seconds later four VC

appeared out of the bush no more than 25 meters right in front of me. I knocked down three of the four before the forth vanished back into the brush still headed to my right toward the patrol but he didn't get far before someone stopped him in his tracks.

 

After reporting in the patrol continued on meeting heavier and heavier resistance with what seem like every step. I went down twice, once from a near miss RPG concussion and once from a AK helmet hit that really rung my chimes.

 

It was a long day and we were running low on supplies so the TL called for extract and not a minute too soon because I was mentally and physically exhausted but the day wasn't over just yet.

When we got back to the OP it was under attack by a small enemy force that was wiped out in short order.

 

364 more days of this and home again. ;)

We've actually noticed an increase in frame rate with the Tanoa foliage

Does someone else have the problem that Arma 3 stops working and crashes after short time when you are in the editor on DaKrong.

A friend of mine has the same problem.

i have this too if i stack items on top of each other and then point the camera at them. my theory is that it is the lack of mass/ physx in objects which are stacked on top of each other, then copy and pasted. so the engine doesn't know what to do with them so they float above each other. when you then point the camera at them i get a out of memory dialog and a CTD.

 

try pressing M and going into the 2D map. does the crash still happen?

try deleting any small objects you have placed.

 

well i'm happy to report that the flares work great now
just been playing at night and it all works perfectly

- vehicles launch flares if you press the CQB (alt optics) key after dark

- the sawn-off m79 and 20 flares are a great secondary weapon for night time

- the flare-ships - the AC47, O2 skymaster or chinook all drop daylight flares using alt-optic key

Seems like you didn't make XM177E2 with visible 20rnd mags.. that's lame. 30rnd mags were pretty rare in Vietnam.. Otherways i'm pretty impressed. Tho i'm still waiting US cargo trucks and other maps and ponchos.

I was wondering if I could get the class names of all the groups for all of the factions. The way you have your groupings (assuming they didn't change from Bravo), ALiVE doesn't register any factions but the NVA and maybe the civs. This way I could try to throw together a mission specific config for the community to use (or someone else if they can do it first or better, I have other things to do as well).

Thanks, and I love using this mod. Just wish there were more single player scenarios to use it on outside of making your own.

Ive noticed this update adds alot of chatter to the arsenal, either the new apex chinese or vietnamese

 

Slicks also missing from zeus menu.

 

Edit: Hips screwy, no animations.

 

 

Beyond that, looking really good so far!

Great job on the release! I gotta say that Guns a go go is my new favorite toy. I'm having way to much flying around blasting Surfin' Bird and taking out Charlie.

For me the problem occurs even if there are no objects at all. Just open the map in the 3D Editor.
