Hi.

I'm a practical gamer and I like practical features. I was playing a SWAT TvT and ordered a crook to drop his weapons.
So you're standing there while the guy looks down at the ground (inventory) until his weapons finally drop. *Sigh*

I realized; there's no button in ArmA to drop your weapons. RIDICULOUS, right!? This mod changes that.

Features:

  • Allows you to drop your current selected weapon by a single button
  • Allows you to re-bind that button if CBA is running (the default button is T).
  • If you have multiple guns, after dropping one you don't automatically pull out the other one (to prevent the 'HES GOT A GUN!' mistakes)
  • Multiplayer Compatible ;)
  • Client sided

Known issues:

I've been modding for three years but never released anything. This is my first time. There could be some screw ups, forgive me ^^.
Feel free to suggest anything.
( Play withSix, ArmAholic mirrors are appreciated ;) )

Is it possible to add animation for that? Standard open inventory animation will be ok.

Wow, I'm surprised that I've never thought about this, let alone read or seen any discussion about it in regards to Arma before. Awesome idea Sanchez :) Brilliantly simple.

Cheers guys.

Well luckylegs, a simple idea but a pain in the ass to make due to some lacks in the engine :P

I'm not sure what you mean and how that will look. The standard open inventory animation is just the guy looking down at his feet as if there's a spider on his boot or sumn.

Also, most animations will probably (but not necessary) slow you down and that kind of defeats the purpose of this mod. (it's not the slow weapon drop mod, haha :P)

Anyway thanks for the feedback.

Kind regards,

Sanchez

Figured I'd forget something.

I forgot to sign the mod and provide the serverkeys (if you wish to allow it on your server with verifySignatures on, place the bikey in the keys folder)

Original thread updated with new download: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/23922015/%40sanchez_ds_v1.1.zip

Steam Workshop also updated.

This mod looks great, is there a way to speed up/remove the animation after he drops the launcher?

The animation that plays is the vanilla arma3 one that is automatically played if someone's weapons are removed, the launcher one in particular is cringeworthy.

I can try and cancel it out to see how that looks.

I'll be updating this mod with the Nexus update of ArmA 3 (1.54?) - Bohemia has implemented a fix for the muzzle issue.

edit: 3 years later - I've decided not to do this, since other projects popped up with higher priority.
