Hello, if anyone from Bohemia Interactive sees this thread, please, consider this, and make one player VERY happy.:D

So, quite some time ago, I bought Arma II and the Operation Arrowhead DLC from Gamestop. Needless to say, I loved it! But, I was very unsatisfied as well. After trying for about an hour to set up Xbox controller settings, I gave up with trying. Too many options for so little buttons. So, here I am, begging someone to see this, praying. Would anyone working on Arma II make the game completely controller compatible? Here is why I ask you: See, I was diagnosed with a devastating disorder, known as "Focal Dystonia." Basically, what this disorder does, is it makes it harder for the area affected, (in my case, my left arm), to do the most basic of tasks. I can't even tie my own shoes because of it! Now, I'm here begging, because, I can't use a keyboard and mouse to play a game, trust me, I've tried on this game. Did not work. So, once again, I will suggest this for you all at Bohemia Interactive, please be considerate of those who are physically disabled and who want to play your games, and make it easier for them? It could be a veteran who lost an arm who would want to play this game, but they cannot without a prosthetic. Or, think of the money you would make from the physically disabled community on the PC platform? I can only play RTS games on my laptop now. That's what I have been reduced to. Games like Victoria II and Hearts of Iron III. I ask you this with utmost respect, please make Arma II, the Arma II Operation Arrowhead DLC, DayZ mod, DayZ standalone, and Arma III, all controller compatible games. Please?

Ahoj, pokud nÄ›kdo z Bohemia Interactive vidí tento vlákno, prosím, zvažte to, aby jeden hrÃ¡Ä a velmi Å¡Å¥astný.

I don't know much about Focal Dystonia, but I know there's one bassist on YouTube called Scott Devine who has FD, he apparently uses a glove to work around his ailment, have you tried this?

I've looked into him, yes. But, my focal dystonia controls my entire left arm, not just my hand. However, I will give the glove a try. But, since a controller is smaller than a keyboard, I think it would be easier to handle. I've already learned how to play one-handed on a controller though. Still, thank you for your input and advice.

Also, but not really related. Have you tried Arma Tactics, its not the same, but its not a bad little game and quite tactical and requires less input from the player.

That said, it would be nice to see a controller for players that are disabled. I remember recommending a Nostromo to someone a few years ago, but I don't think it helped that much with game-play. Its hard to know where to start when designing these things, there are soo many people that would love to play but are restricted in some way. That's quite sad really.

I'm disabled, but in a totally different way to your disability and can play the game without any problem, other than resting up more often and having internet required stuff knocking around that needs bandwidth or whatever it is, restricts further an already low connection speed. Still, I'm wandering, but yes, a controller for disabled, that's probably not BI's range of things though, more for a designer to tackle. But game devs can help by reducing button functions or at least making them more macro friendly.

:)

Edit: I would add, its a shame BI don't develop Arma Tactics more, it could/would be a great game to spend some time and dev money on. Top down, open world, tactical shooter with modding (if pos), would be great addition to the series. They've already started, but seems that is as far as they are going to go with it.. Shame really. :(

Hello Dystonia-Gamer,

This is not an official response from BI, just from me personally.

Have you tried to use a program called Xpadder?

Take a look at this thread in DayZ: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/102861-guide-xbox-controller-support-using-xpadder/

And some more examples with Arma3:

Best regards,

Hello BohemiaBeck,

I've not tried XPadder, but I will give it a try. If you could, would you help me get it to work if I had any further questions on how to get it to work? Thank you for your reply by the way. It means a lot to see all of your helpful replies, to everyone who has so far. Thank you all again.

I'm afraid I'm not familiar with Arma Tactics. But, well, if I have enough money, I'll be sure to look into it, (if it costs money, or if it's free to play). But, for the controller part of everything, I am afraid it would take designers and game devs many hours of cooperation to make it work smoothly. Alas, if only they would try to help the disabled community more. But, it's NOT just BI, it seems to be every PC game is not controller compatible, unless they are also released on console as well. (Call of Duty, Battlefield to name a few). It does suck, to not be able to play these amazing games like Arma II, III and DayZ. Thank you again, for replying and everyone's helpful comments including yours.
