Populating maps that big is a massive task, there's a reason why there are none even from the community. :P

Massive maps that are say 100km x 100km would give everyone shitloads of more variety compared to a 10km x 10km. Maybe one day. 

 

Those maps will be mostly empty and only good for flying (except you want the infantry/tank sahara gameplay with 100km of sand).

Have you guys checked out the 120x120km BI ToH desert map I mentioned earlier?  It's part of the Armaverse, and was supposed to be somewhere in "South Asia" (it included a low-res version of Shapur), but the terrain is actually in SW United States.  Even the Takistan-like towns in it were fairly well detailed for a map meant mainly for flying.  I highly recommend it, and hope you will consider its addition to CUP sometime in the future.  It would be a worthy member of CUP Terrains IMO.

Have you guys checked out the 120x120km BI ToH desert map I mentioned earlier?

We just had this conversation on this very page (Alwarren's post) and the previous page:

We looked into it already and concluded that the workload involved is too high right now, we're short on manpower for terrains and other stuff has priority right now. So no.

IMO, the conversation was woefully insufficient, especially with regard to South Asia terrain, which wasn't mentioned.  I view the exclusion of South Asia terrain from CUP as at best an oversight, at worst a mistake.

There is no denying that the maps would be nice to have, but as Chairborne has already pointed out, we lack the manpower to tackle it, especially in the Terrains department. You are welcome to join us if you want to help out with this, but I'm afraid that without reinforcements, this will have to wait for a long time to happen.

On our homepage the "Download" and "Armaholic" mirrors are already updated. SteamWS might take a while to get the updated data.

There is no denying that the maps would be nice to have, but as Chairborne has already pointed out, we lack the manpower to tackle it, especially in the Terrains department. You are welcome to join us if you want to help out with this, but I'm afraid that without reinforcements, this will have to wait for a long time to happen.

 

I hear you!  Just something to think about for the future.  Perhaps newly-joined CUP member Jakerod "The Terrain Machine" could help out!  ;)  But I'll bet he has plans for other terrains...(wink wink)
