No luck with altering windows, the folder name stays the same.

Can confirm my original XML from A2 does not cause the above directory error, just this OP template ?

Nah the template is purely a visual thing for the webbrowser e.g. www.12thmechanised.com/xmlrgg/xmlf/squad.xml

the actual system is still the same.

It would be to do with the Unicode and how the game handles it I believe, maybe im wrong :/

Thanks Dale. After all these years. It was the naming of my user account.

I'm having trouble getting the squad logo to display in game. I read through this thread and am using the files provided in the OP, modified to remove the player IDs. I see Dale mentioning that the logo must be a .paa file that was converted from .png using TexView 2. However, I also see others implying that they got .png images to work. I have tried both--a .paa file converted with TexView 2 from .png, and the original .png file, and I cannot get either to display in game, anywhere. In both cases, the images are 512 x 512.

Here's a link to my squad.xml file, which is currently attempting to use a .paa image, if anyone has time to help me sort out the issue:

http://formidable.guildportal.com/GuildFiles/349144/ArmA3/squad.xml

Note: When using a .paa file, it doesn't display in a web browser. When I use a .png instead, then it does display in a web browser.

And yes, I have also updated the .xsl file to refer to the .paa file:

squad.xsl relevant content:

<img id="logo" src="Cowboy_Crew.paa" alt="Squad Logo"/>

squad.xml relevant content:

<picture>Cowboy_Crew.paa</picture>

Edit 1: I changed the squad.xsl file to refer to the .png instead of the .paa to get it to display in a Web browser. I also resized the images (both paa and png) to 256 x 256 to see if that made a difference. Now it displays in a browser, but it still doesn't display in-game. I wonder if it's because I'm hosting the files on guildportal that it's not working?

Edit 2: I noticed that as I'm playing, the game creates a temporary folder with the name of my squad. For example, "Tmp2302\squads\Cowboy Crew". So, it seems that I have most of this correct. The game just isn't copying the .paa file to this temporary folder.

Guys, i had this all setup before on my old A2 server but trying to do it on A3 i just cant get my patch to come up online on my arm or any vehicles tanks choppers.

Badges/Patches aren't disabled on the server,

I used a .png 256X256 transparent picture and converted with Texview2 to .paa and uploaded it. (unable to post link yet).

I've triple checked my Player ID and the URL in my profile and know my Username is correct {RoC}THE-Nemesis

I've also tried changing my player to Stu and editing the squad.xml to Stu but still nothing...

Any idea please?

<?xml version="1.0"?>

<!DOCTYPE squad SYSTEM "squad.dtd">

<?xml-stylesheet href="squad.xsl?" type="text/xsl"?>

<squad nick="{RoC}">

<name>Rifle Only Clan</name>

<email>N/A</email>

<web>etc etc etc</web>

<picture>sqd_logo.paa</picture>

<title>PA</title>

<member id="7656119805*******" nick="{RoC}THE-Nemesis">

<email>N/A</email>

My paa from a2 still works in a3 on mp servers. Yet it's not working in sp as it did work in beta sp.

Yeah, wasn't planning to use the a2 logo. Any new one i made was as you say, a dark spot.

I stopped trying to figure it out, since the old a2 one works.

Ok, took another kick at the can to get these logos to show correctly.

They work!.., But only resized square, as in 256x256. Didn't try 128x, but it should work too.

Here's my step-by-step:

- resize the .tga 256xsq. I'm using gimp.

- "save as" --the important thing here is to uncheck compression if it's checked.

then,

-drop it into texview.

-"save as" --the important thing here is to type the file extenstion --.paa--.

Here's a quick way to view it ingame:

If you got a mod like CBA or something, swap your logo for their's. Start the game. If the logo is working, it will show on the selection screen.

Hold on. you don't need a new squad.xml --i just rename the existing logo, like logo.paa1, and upload the new logo.paa.

[edit]..., or just delete the the existing logo since it's buggy, and u/l the new logo.paa -or what you named it in the squad.xml --doesn't need to be named logo.paa.

Okay i have a Fix for the "no logo"/"Dark Logo" in squad.xml Problem:

Looks like it is a transparency Problem. i Have try it with my old 128px logo

To fix it try following:

Open the source .tga with GIMP or a similar Program.

then Export the picture to a .png format.

choose Directory and Filename.

Click all check boxes. (the importent part is i think to set all the Gamma an transparency setting correct)

Set compression to 0

Save it.

Open file with Texview2

"Save as..." and rename the Ending to .paa

Save it.

Upload it to your Squad.xml Web space

Frankly i have not the slightest Idea why it is works, because i have try it yesterday only to save it uncompressed (in tga format) and it dosen't work, but it works now so i think it has something to to with the Transparency. ^^

The hint with the png was somewhere in the Forum here but i don't remember where. ^^;

Hi all.

Is there anyone that can help me with a common problem that I can not seem to solve? I can not see my squad logo or any other squad logos for that matter on all servers. I take it that it is something on my side and not the servers. I do for sure know my squad logo is set up right because other players can see it, just not me.

Please I am begging for help, I have even tried to re-install arma and that too does not solve my problem.
