September 1939 Mod

Recommended Posts

One thing, how are the interiors?

In most cases already modelled. There was no time to texture everything yet, so screens will follow at a later time, once it's done.

For vehicles aquired through donation/cooperations (like ACSR german tanks) interiors need to be built from scracth. Only guuner/commander view for now.

Will you be changing the default A2 drivers view as well as the gunners/commanders view?

If there's enough reference to do so; probably yes.

It'll be much easier with the german or russian tanks and apc's.

For the polish ones, well, pretty much everything got destroyed in the war and there's no chance for real life reference in the majority of cases.

How about some video clips in the future?

Sure, don't see why not. But would want to have a bunch of infantry models finished first. Videos of tanks or cars just driving around? Better not ;)

I am already glad about these mod! Is there then a temporary list?

Will post one, sure. If I forget, feel free to remind me at some point.

Yes pls.

Show us how the tanks handle and how the driver/commander view works.

Ok, will remember about this request; a short presentation vid will be done once the custom views are implemented + once we have the suspension on all vehicles fully functional.

Please remember that it's a WIP by a very small team;

and screens show what we're ready to show at the current development stage. For example - a little closer look at the 7TP light tank.

And a tiny preview of ACSR's share used in the mod

Looks really great.

Is the last pic photoshopped or can you really have so much smoke in the game at the same time? (for me the game begins to drop off the smoke when you have it too much)

Aqu, yes it's for real - it's about 20(+/-) fuel trucks burning there. FPS drop was significant though...

(pic taken with BlastCore and @JTD)

@Petr,

Good, glad you like the alternations. Hope to have some more time to make a screenshooting session for the tanks soon. Just can't get to it yet..

FT-17 is being worked on from scratch, base is done, hope to overcome troubles in applying the camo soon...

Next is a Polski Fiat 621L "Grom" and Polski Fiat 508 "Åazik", Wz.34 light armoured car, polish soldiers passing by a Polski Fiat 508/518 pickup and Wz.30 CKM, and a screen showing 508/518 version of radio maintanence companies.

Excellent work a must have mod really well done.just one thing the road signs are in kilometers should they not be in miles

In miles? No, why? Poland never used miles, always kilometers.

example, example 2

Those trucks I gave away to someone who said he'll take care of them and release. Happened a long time ago..

Could you guys do us a favor and use another image uploader instead of imageshack? Its slow and full with commericals and viruses.

If you would make direct links, that would be great.

Hello from PL, i got one solid question about mods for ARMA2 related to Wordl War II - its wonderfull that Polish fans of Arma are projecting such a nice mod but i want to ask if there are any other mods related to WWII. Can You write me names of this mods?

Can You tell me, if You know, what are differences between Arma 2 and Red Orchestra reality and 2ww climat?

Can anyone compare this 2 games?

I am not so sure those questions above are suited for this topic in particular but here goes anyways;

Arma 2 WW2 mods that i am aware so far:

Finland at War 39-45

(they said they'll port to A2 when they finish A1)

Arma2 (ww2 mods) and RO are no that comparable imo. They serve different purpose. They are just too different. However my opinion (others will disagree); RO is a small scale fast paced action shooter, some say a bit clunky, and with ping-pong tanks. Arma2 ww2 stuff so far (my experience) is super clunky as A2 stuff usually are, slow paced and huge maps with good looking exterior tanks while everything else in tanks is imo better in RO and more immersive to drive/shoot. In A2 you don't notice if your tank gets hit or not :-/

In RO you can play multiplayer games whenever you so choose to, in A2's WW2 scene that is not possible, in other words A2WW2 mp scene is almost non-existent. I hope I44 2.5 fixes this. Summa summarum; if you expect RO type gameplay from A2WW2 mods, you will be disappointed.

Thx for your replay. What do You mean by typing "mp games" ? So it looks that RO is not more simulation than RO but not with tanks? :) I thought its harder game and much seriously tactical than RO.

And there is not much players in WW2 mods of Arma? Its not good news:)

Time to bring the topic back on track.

Today's update features a newly made FT-17 texture in close up (only base paint- the end product will feature polish 1936 tricolour camo)

ft1b.th.jpgft2a.th.jpgft3tt.th.jpg

and introduces a new steel beast in our inventory.

tw1f.th.jpgtw2y.th.jpg

The soviet T-28 medium tank visible on the screens comes from Finland, and is made by the talented members of the FWW2 - Finland at War 1939-1945 Mod. It's been real fun for us (Topas + Jaksa) to spend the last few days UVmapping, texturing and making it functional ingame - seeing this monster rolling through the fields is a sight rewarding the time spent.

I will focus on this tank a bit more in the future, once the texture work is being completed (the tracks shown are a mere placeholder, working on new high-res ones at the moment and having some alpha-channels problems...).

Regards

T.

PS

@Minuteman, Oops, sorry about Imageshack again.. man is a creature of habit

Probably too early to ask, but do you plan on making custom animations for rifles/equipment and any features such as weapon resting, etc?

Custom animations are a must Devil Dogs SF. Having default A2 weaponholding anims is no option, one will need to adjust them to each rifle, gun etc. Same goes for vehicles and artillery - as an example see how the crew operated the wz.36 Bofors AT gun. No default anim will do this justice.

We have a talented animator standing by for this, first need to finish the models, scale them properly etc.

As for the rest of your question; time will tell. We would surely like to implement some features for our 'Saper' units (engineers, several models are already a WIP). Without those features they'd be just infantry models with no other use... Can't promise anything though, we're just a team too small to say for sure we'll be able to deal with all of the aspects yet.

Some shots of the (still WIP) T-28 from Oxygen2

working on the replacement of the placeholder tracks (not exactly my favourite field of expertise)

Was about to blame the lack of reference, but honestly, I was a bit lazy here and used the KV-1 as reference for now.
