  1. Both Dropbear and myself (with permission from roy86) would like to announce a port of Patrol Ops 3.1 for Unsung Vietnam. AI enemy units have been changed out to VC and tests so far have been going well. Time has been restricted for work on this conversion, however so far running it on our 2 servers over the last week or so, have proven successful. We feel that the work so far is ready for release to the public so that mission makers\editors can download and edit the mission to suit their server. Over the course of the coming weeks, any bugs that arise with the missions (that are not already reported in roy86's official patrol ops 3.1) please let me know and I will see what I can do to find a fix. Unit modification I found to be quite simple (thanks to 86) who simplified the original scripts for Patrol Ops 3.1 Vanilla Edit requires: Unsung Vietnam and CBA_A3 to function Vanilla Edit Patrol Ops 3.1 (Dropbox) Modded Version requires: Unsung Vietnam, CBA_A3, ACE3, Task Force Radio, ALiVE. Modded Version of Patrol Ops 3.1 (Dropbox) CREDITS Would not be possible with out the contributions to the arma3 community from Eighty Six (roy86) Unsung Vietnam Modders And respect to those who inspired Eighty Six to make an awesome mission for the community.   2. https://imgur.com/a/MFskJ This is a small, 100% INFANTRY oriented map, intended for use with unsung but sure, it works equally well for other jungle scenarios if you are into that sort of thing. Solely intended for medium to short range infantry missions and campaigns, this map has extremely dense vegetation and is designed for very short ingame view settings. 2m cell size makes the ground itself VERY detailed and with the enemy literally less than a nade's throw away, nobody needs view range. This is so that we can have nice things. Such as craters and ditches, trenches and such. Features: 8x8km 1 million trees. Actual terrain modified to work with arma units. River for dangerous crossings and patrol boats. Very high terrain detail. 2m cell size. Highly dense rainforest Designed exclusively for patrol/infantry huey insertion situations. There are no roads. just footpaths. The river is the main road in these parts. Scheduled release date; January 2nd. 1 US FOB with 3 helipads and and 1 OP with 1 helipad. 1 bombed out plantation settled by French Missionairies in the 19th century. 100% custom ground textures. The map is a fictional valley-river offshoot of the Mekong river, in the region around Cambodia/Laos highlands. Requires Apex/Tanoa. No initial mod requirements. (future versions may require Unsung) Progress summary: Terrain sculpting: 100% Object placement: 70% Detail placement 25% Satellite textures: 95% Ground textures: 90% Roads/paths: 20% Surface masks: 60% DISCLAIMER This download is pre-release content and only suitable for mission makers at this moment. A release thread will be posted when the first playable version is completed. Do not download this unless you wish to create missions and maybe affect the final product. If you create sites in x-cam or similar on this map and post them in this thread, I will include the best and most suitable ones! (no mods!) IF YOU EXPECT A FULLY FUNCTIONAL AND COMPLETED MAP, PLEASE WAIT FOR VERSION 1.0 Testers are not needed but feel free to look around, have fun and do post feature requests in this thread! Performance instructions: #1 Set Overall view range to less than 1km. #2 Set object to around half of that #3 Set terrain detail to ultra #4 if the above doesn't give you playable fps, lower or turn off FSAA, terrain detail, object and texture settings. #5 If #4 didn't make it playable, buy a new computer! The map is currently almost completed with basic nature and is only lacking detail and structures. Updates will be posted regularly. If you are a mission maker, please consider doing object placement outside eden editor so they can be added to the actual map. Announcing the formation of a new Arma 3 combat unit within Elite Warriors Gaming clan - Project Delta - A Milsim Ops Unit loosely based around the work of the 5th Special Forces Group Long-Range Reconnaissance unit, a precursor to MACV-SOG. Timed to coinicide with the release of Unsung Delta, we are aiming to run ops each week on Sundays, playing with Unsung, TFAR and ACE medic system. Missions will be designed to make use of a modular force - some air and armour supporting the majority on long range recon and destruction ops. Project Delta is seeking able-bodied men of all ages to rise to the challenge, and learn the ways of the jungle from the veterans in this unit who have been developing Unsung mod and running weekly ops for more than 4 years - in the dark, the rain, the heat and against massively superior enemy numbers. Supported by the long-established ~EW~ Training Team, Project Delta will teach you combat skills, teamwork, weapon and vehicle proficiency and above-all how to survive in the hostile terrain of South-East Asia circa 1965-70. REQUIREMENTS It doesn't matter your level of skill, as we can train you, but we expect you to be a reasonable team player. More military veterans are especially welcome. Patience and an aptitude for team tactics are vital. We expect you to attend relevant training sessions and ops on at least 2 Sundays /month. Suggested donation of £2 /month towards server fees.   5. 101st Airborne Division, 2/506 Vietnam MilSim The unit is an ArmA community that focuses on giving its members an authentic experience in a Vietnam environment by using the ArmA engine with the Unsung Vietnam mod as well as additional custom made mods. We are based on but not limited to the 67-71 Air Mobile Table of Organization.   6. Who we are... We are the 101st Airborne, 506th IR, 2nd Battalion, Delta Company! An authentic realism unit that plays to learn, teach, win and have fun. We used to be the 101st Airborne, Dog Company from Invasion 1944. We moved on to ArmA 3 in October 2014, but just recently got bored of all modern stuff and we want to get back to the good old days. What we do... We are based in UNSUNG for ArmA 2, but that doesn't limit us from playing other mods within both ArmA 2 and 3. We host both closed operations for members only, and public missions every month that is based on a real life armed conflict in any era where people can sign up and take part. How to sign up and what happens after signing up... After signing up, your application will be reviewed by an Applications Officer. Once accepted, you will receive your Recruit tag and may start your Training. Basic Combat Training, which will be focused on integrating you into the unit - Teamwork and how to work the game and mods. After BCT, you will be a full member of the unit and you will receive your screaming eagle patch. Advanced Individual Training, which will help you improve as a soldier. We might all think that we're the best, even myself, but the AIT will improve us all. Remember that all wars and battles are different. We do require you to be at least 17 years old (16 if proven mature), or that you are well known by unit staff since before. We have just released two screenshots of our current ArmA work through the OFPNAM website. A public release is in the near future but a release date has yet to be determined. Rest assured that our first release is not far off! The Unsung Vietnam war MOD has from our group's Operation Flashpoint days, always strived to build a MOD based on realism during the Vietnam War. It is our mission to recreate the battlefield in order to simulate the experience of being in an actual southeast asian jungle. Does anybody know if it is possible to in any way to open up the official ArmA single player and campagin missions in the editor and take components of them for my own custom missions to play in singlplayer.. Or if anybody knows of a similar reference, just to save time every time building a fully dug in city! I remember doing this with Op Flash so I presume it's also possible in ArmA thanks
