Tatra 815-7

Recommended Posts

I've already post it into the "Stuff, you are working on" thread but I think It's better to post it into new thread.

After quite many abandoned work (9k79 Tochka, 2S1 Gvozdika, Fokker E.III or MAZ-537), I'm finally going to finish something - TATRA 815-7 trucks family, I'm going to make 4x4 (including tanker), 6x6, 8x8 (including tanker) and 10x10 versions. Here is some screens of the 4x4 version.

The texture, you see on the screens is the very first texturing attempt. I still can't get with zhe smdi mask (It's shiny as hell:banghead:). Anyway, I hope you like it...

I'm really impressed of TATRA trucks. I don't know if the 815-7s are in the service already but I'm sure they will be. After this i want to make TATRA 810 (replacement for V3S in AÄŒR) http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/1314/09hu2.jpg . And after this all, I want to make some civilian gliders with "gliding" script.

Hope that texture will stop giving you hell :) the less shiny military vehicles we have in game the better. When you say it is giving you trouble, in what way do mean, is it is the texture itself or something to do with the materials? You can use the rvmat to lower the shine.

I like the model, it looks great for a support vehicle, not too low but not too heavy either. As you go through the texturing process will you be changing the color from a less deep green to something more of a lightish olive as shown in the picture?

And one last question, from the roundel, will this be part of the CSLA mod or stand alone?

No, It won't be part of CSLA mod. I'm not a member of CSLA team. BTW this truck is 2008 production in front of CSLA is 1954-1990.

Edit:

This experimental digital camo pattern looks really good but I can't find any reference pictures of it... Edited by Jarinator90

Ah good, always nice to see more stand alone addons, great as mods are..sometimes..stand alone is just nicer, or at least having the option. And more modern Czech units would go to compliment OA's infantry, they really are in need of more vehicles :)

Nice model you've got there, i'm happy to see someone else making czech stuff. I hope you'll have more luck with it than with your previous projects. And on the topic of the smdi texture, I might be defiantely (as a lot of others here) able to help you out with it if you wish, but perhaps it would be better to start wokring on it just after you've finished the _CO texture. It's much easier than to make it "on the move".

@NodUnit

I'm pretty sure the next ACR will be standalone ;)

Oh yeah, Tatra is possibly the best truck in the world, nice screen shots and detail texture on the door. I've always been looking for a Tatra that doesn't require CSLA mod. I'm looking forward to this being finished, looks like you only got textures to do. If you need any help just PM me :ok:

After quite many abandoned work

Please finish this man, abandoned work is good for nothing.

I still can't get with zhe smdi mask

The best way to make a .smdi texture is using TexView2. Load the texture and then go to Edit > Filter > Load and load the specularMapFinish.bitfilt filter which is located in:

C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\Tools\TexView 2\Filters

If texview2 crashes when browsing folders just copy the specularMapFinish.bitfilt file to the folder where the texture you loaded is and load it from there.

Just a WIP render of 4x4 tanker version...

Nice, if you wouldn't mind after you finish this I would like to ask your permission to use this truck in my Taviana army pack

Most of it was abandoned because of lack of interior reference images (e.g. try to find more than two photos of Tochka interior). Anyway I didn't deleted it so maybe one day I will finish it.

Well, t810 is out... I will try t816 then :wink_o:

EDIT: Btw, do you know how does the FLIR in OA works? Is it model or config issue?

I still don't have OA but I promise, I'll purchase it ASAP...

Don't worry about the interior man, how can a soviet interior look, something like the SCUD from OFP or BRDM. Its not so important like the vehicle it self so if you have time please finish it too

Well, time is something I don't have right now because of semestral exams on the university - it's closer every day. Even the progress on tatras are really slow now.

That is not digital camo that is 8-bit camo :D There is something truley beautiful about watching military trucks offroad compared to civilian vehicles..no looks, nothing but pure purpose behind these. Ah if only one day the engine could support movements such as that.

Hey guys.

As I'm making progres in maping the model, I've got one question: Do I really need to map every single lod separately or is there some easier way?

You can use parts to carry over into LOD's but it's not recommended for the most part on the last LOD's.

There are low poly things that you can just copy paste in to a few Lods. But if you UV mapped the model mapping the Lods inst such a big deal, just UV map them using the same texture.

Waiting for some new screenies

That is one of the reasons you should stay away from O2 UV mapping and learn a decent 3D program that allows you to reduce your models while keeping your UV mapping intact (not always possible once you mess with the UV island border, at least you will get a long way if you kept that in mind).

*Do it once decent and enjoy the ride...
