MISSION OVERVIEW

Read the Chernarus GITS Evolution briefing in the missions zip file for an overview of the GITS Evolution format.

There are many many features and functions to learn - all simple to master and great assets for teamplay.

The city rotation in Icebreaker's amazing Panthera map is:

1. Mojstrana

2. Bled

3. Radovljica

4. Cesnjica

5. New Skooma

6. Tolmin

7. Kobarid

8. Bovec

9. Cave del Predil

10. Tarvisio

Don't forget you can use T/ assignments to call in side-missions - you can then play the map solo just attacking convoys, destroying armour, saving the agent, rescuing a pilot or killing crazy civilian cultists... you don't have to do the cities at all!

Beware - the spetsnaz and enemy air units kick butt. you might want to take some time to prepare defences at the base before you set off.... I had some nasty surprises during testing...

Known bugs:

a) beware part of the LHD (aircraft carrier) seems to have a slight bug (not seen before) where you can fall through

b) The assassination mission needs refining

c) the woodland bradleys need adding to sinits so they will respawn

d) I need to add some extra ammo to the new planes and choppers, esp. AA missiles

e) missile camera seems to fail - prolly as i tried to add in the new classes

f) F4 afterburner sends you int othe stratosphere and runs the fuel to zero in 2 secs - weird bug

g) as with all GITS evolution titles - the air units respawn too fast on normal settings...

h) commander spawn needs moving - he dies on first ever spawn owing to pos clash

ok, so you have F4's, F16's, A10's, F35's, Apaches, cobras, venoms, lynxs, havocs, a front and side firing AC130, bradleys, strikers, paladins, dune-buggies, WMiKs, and about 1,000 types of rifle, mg, silent sniper rifle, etc etc and the best looking island available in arma2

you should be ok lol GO GET EM!

Had a couple of issues with the unmodded version:

1. After doing a Helo jump the "T" key is unresponsive.

2. Sometimes when requesting support it says I don't have enough points when clearly I do. EG. I will have 151 points and want to request something that is only 10 points... it will say I only have 1 point. It always says I have the 1th position worth of points. For example if I have 159 points it'll say I have 9 points, if I have 143 points it'll say I have 3 points etc.

3. My friend was having some issues as a pilot - when he died from the Jets whilst in a helicopter or plane he couldn't was having problems respawning. His character was respawning, but his camera didn't follow.

4. The enemy jets are sorta brutal at base, maybe have some friendly A.I. manning the AA Pods? It was very difficult to coordinate strike forces when we were continuously getting bombarded at base.

5. We couldn't figure out how to get the helicopter winches working. We tried with the night-hawk and osprey choppers. We also tried with and without the pilot being the pilot character... everything we tried just wasn't working.

6. We had a weird bug with the MHQ. We were moving our MHQ forward in the field from a previous location and it was destroyed in transit. The MHQ respawned at main base, but our MHQ respawn point remained the previous parked area of the MHQ and never updated.

Other than that great mission - we were using the unmodded version and had tons of fun. Lastly, do you think you can add a "save" feature? Don't know what that would involve, maybe it's too much to ask.

yes it's a known bug and I did have a working fix but it failed a while ago and I have no idea why - we don't use HALO until this is resolved.

This is beacuse you got promoted at 150 points (probably to lieutenant, as the default score/rank ratio is 50 points per rank. You can't spend points that will make you demoted. Worth bearing in mind that your support options are a little limited when you have just been promoted, but they soon improve as the options do!

Not seen this.

were you running any other mods? e.g. the IHADSS mod?

was he using weapon camera and firing a missile when he died?

After he joined the game, could he see the ammo crate at base? and did hisT menu work? sometimes, typically after first download of the mission, the JIP player initialisation fails, so you have to leave and reconnect. the first way to tell this is because the ammo crate and T menu are not there, or because your name appears in the T/TRANSFER menu as a John Doe. If it happens again - please check these things.

I know that if youre typing into a marker on the map when you die then you have to reboot your pc lol as you lose your controls.

Agreed. this was a flaw in my respawn algorithm not picking up a global variable set in the init file, so returning lods of zeros, meaning too many planes spawning. I've fixed it in all the newest versions. Redownload it.

Mando hitch is set in the Parameters screen - click the PARAMETERS button when you first start the mission (As server admin) and turn it to enabled. It is set to disabled by default because there was a reported bug with it and ACE. ALL helicopters can hitch - enemy/ friendly/ small and large.

6. The MHQ respawned at main base, but our MHQ respawn point remained the previous parked area of the MHQ and never updated.

This happened to me last night - the MHQ red cross marker (where you spawn) remained in the old city, after the MHQ vehicle was moved (but only for me not for the others) so I could only use the Recon HQ (which is based on the vehicle position, not the marker) until I needed the MHQ to work, so I reconnected. It's a packet-loss bug I think and quite random and rare enough.

Lastly, do you think you can add a "save" feature? Don't know what that would involve, maybe it's too much to ask.

I'll look into it. If you play your mission unlocked then saves not a big issue. If you play it on your own dedi server, then put this in your server.cfg

be sure to read the mission guide pdf with the mission pack to make the most of the options...

Ah this makes sense now! Sorry I didn't notice that before, when wanting to do airstrikes I ended up going into my own base and shooting friendly vehicles with rockets until I was below 150. I would almost suggest having the support points and "leveling" points separate then. But I can see why you don't want support spam; although like I mentioned... it's easy to just get to 150, then shoot your own things with rockets, do an artillery strike, get 5-20 points (based on what you kill) and repeat.

We were running: Panthera, ACEX_SM, WarFXParticles, VFAI, CSM2, FFAA, STHUD, ACEX, ACE, CBA

I don't believe so because it was happening even as he was taking off in base before he could react.

Yes, everything was working fine after reconnect.

I don't think he was doing this either, sorry for the lack of information - he was really just flying and getting killed then not being able to respawn.

Yup this also happened to us last night. It happened quite early too, we will be playing the mission again very soon, but I have a feeling it's not as random as you think and can get pretty annoying (good thing there is the RHQ though).

If you play your mission unlocked then saves not a big issue.

Sorry for being dunce... but what do you mean by this? When my friends and I play I usually host a "listen" server (not dedicated), will I also be able to edit the server.cfg in this instance?

Thanks for the response! Great mission so far, I think I enjoy the Evo series better than Domination... seems to have more meat.

after ending a connection with the server running panteramodifiedv3 I get

data/scripts/carrier.sqf not found.

no idea if it has something todo with the mission

and I got no points after downing a heli with base flak

yeah not sure aboutthat not found thing - we all get it but the carrier spawns ok so i guess its just a client/ server script bug.

you only get points in arma if you actually do the damage that takes the vehicle from positive health to zero. hitting it and taking out its engines and making its health say 30% will not count as a kill when they crash - as they killed themselves. this is the same as when you die in a vehicle from spalsh damage when it was on fire andit says you were teamkilled by the human driver - because the damage originated from "his" vehicle... it sucks i know. just pump enough flak into them to make them a fireball and you'll get your kill.

now has proper ammobox east and west with 100+ weapons in each from all ofthe best weapons mods available.

you certainly need them.

youre right - we havent updated this for a very long time - the map was unfortunately unplayable due to awful lag issues.

lovely to explore but impossible to have a firefight like evo on it

i didn't have too many problems but the other players wit htheir lesser machines all complained every time i put it on.

shame cos ice made such a beautiful map

btw Max, we keep havingto kick you from our server mate cos you join our server (which is called GITS Evolution NO ACE) and you join every time with ACE mod on dude.... if you want to play on our server please respect the server name bud.

i've dug out the old versions from my archive. can't attest to their functionality, as I haven't edited these missions for more than a year. have a good game mate

don't bother to report bugs though - they will be updated when i get around to it.
