  1. I want to force AI shoot at a spot. Ie, AI kills captives one after another and doesn't release the trigger when a captive is dead. For effect, the AI puts more bullets into a dead body. Or: you're in a firing range, camera is following other AI shooters and teleporting to the spots they hit with single bursts, etc.
  2. I couldn't find them by default in A3 modules. Anyone using scripts to get these effects in? Really add up to the immersion. https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/BIS_fnc_crows - doesn't work, sadly. Also, all animals don't have sounds. They don't bark, etc., even scream when dying. Quite fucked up, IMO.

    Nice rundown, DNK. AI has some serious navigational issues and we can't expect much improvement until Arma 4, I assume.

    I'd love to see a grenade tear a group of soldiers apart. Watching Saving Private Ryan combat scenes, for instance, when a splash of blood rises and gore appears on the screen, is much more convincing and forces you to take what's going on a lot more seriously. Then you know there's consequences. Like becoming a red wet spot in Half life when making a mistake. My vote: gore, blood and dismemberment must be in. I know there'll be many people coming up with shit-worth excuses for everything, but whatever, let's ignore them. In order to be worth its name ("authentic"), Arma must have extended gore simulation.

    A definitive mod for an ultimate Arma experience since A2. Thanks a lot, Optical. This is as good as it gets, knowing the limitations of RV engine and the shitty workflow around.
  14. This thread is dedicated to functionality and gameplay suggestions for A3 or its future installments. Provide code to your suggestion, if possible or you've already made an addon of it. CTRL+F search function for maps to enter names of locations of interest, GRID or other pos (ie, Ghost Hotel -> enter -> camera centers on Ghost Hotel). All locs and else are defined in CfgWorld config by the addon author.

    It's true. Arma 3 is clinically clean. No war can ever be so clean, even a futuristic one.
  16. You sure constant freezing on zoom-in for aiming is not your technical problem? Try installing A3 on a SSD. Makes for some smooth LOD loading. ---------- Post added at 07:16 ---------- Previous post was at 07:11 ---------- Still, even with all the shortcomings, Arma AI is one of the most advanced in games industry in terms of using cover, adapting the environment, flanking, their vision being obstructed by environmental objects, etc. The closest is STALKER series. However, bushes and other vegetation there don't affect AI that much. STALKER AI cannot operate as a team, flank properly, they're too aggressive and, in some cases (Mods like Misery 2.1), complete aim-bots. I know F.E.A.R. has a cool in-door AI, but that's it. Could you name more impressive games that have done their r&D on AI properly?

  18. For forcing AI fire a rocket at a target, it'd be neat to use hideObject on an invisible (for player) light/armor vehicle, set the target behind that vehicle, attach a 'fired' EH to AI, move the tank elsewhere at the moment AI launches a rocket. Thoughts?

    How to create a campaign?

    Download Arma 3 Tools on Steam. Create P drive -> folder "ca" (or check all folders) -> folder "Campaign template" (or similar). Open it, open files inside, they're with comments, all the rest is pretty self-explanatory.
  21. Why? Uncomfortable anim tools currently present? Simply not a priority of BIS? Tech limitations? Performance issues? Right now, it's like... observe how the player reloads any rocket launcher and laugh.

    What's wrong with this guy? According to his comments, he thinks he's providing constructive feedback on the MOD for things to improve/fix/introduce that no developer has ever noticed, like... missing interiors (which are a true PITA and time-waster with no gameplay purpose). Some people tend to reach the top of the mountain of ignorance. I mean, how come a huge gamedev team of Far Cry 4, for instance, was unable to make 20+ vehicles with factually and visually accurate interiors? How? There's like... 2-3 vehicles in FC4. And it's their daily job, they all should be punished for laziness. Brats!
