Arma 3 Units - Feedback thread

A few observations and feature requests: Remove the names for rank levels (e.g. "enlisted") or make them (and the icons) customizable. I doubt all groups want members to have military ranks outside of the game. A way to set default titles for ranks. All names on the Members page have unnecessary "..." at the end of the name regardless of how long the name is. Giving a member admin or operations manager status resets their rank to 1. Add more flexibility to amount of admins and operations managers. Our community is run by a group of 20+ people, for instance. The rank system in general still feels clunky. We would love to see more customizability added to it. Our community for example strives to have as little hierarchy within our community as possible, and it would be great if we could reflect that in Units as well. Good progress so far!

    Kunduz, Afghanistan [10km] v1.20

Nice to see the Airport Road no longer being a carriage path! Great work! Looking forward to the CUP Terrains merge.

A cinematic film a couple of our guys created for our community. It turned out pretty cool, if you ask me!

Arma 3 Units - Feedback thread

Would it be possible to somehow alter the group size system you have in place? It seems rather arbitrary. Our community for instance has over 700 registered users, between 200-300 active players and hosts two 100+ player weekly game sessions. All this is summed up in one number "100+". The "members" function, once launched, will of course improve the situation, but as it is, the current system is meaningless. For instance, switching the category to "game size" would be better. Then people would know what scale of games the particular unit or community is playing. While you're at that, it would be good to have the option to filter out multi-gaming communities that in reality have a very small ARMA presence and other unit listings that barely count as communities e.g. generic mod community listings. Looking forward to the new functionality. Good job so far!

Arma 3 Units - Closed Beta Feedback

I'm still getting this on the My Units page when trying to open the unit I've created.

Arma 3 Units - Closed Beta Feedback

A couple quick observations in unit creation: Under Gameplay Focus: The word "Competitive" feels like the wrong word to describe team-vs-team or player-vs-player games as a whole. Not all play against other players competitively. I think "adversarial" would be a more fitting word to describe TVT in general. This could of course be in addition to "competitive", if you wish. Unit banner editing: Once you've picked a banner for your Unit page, you cannot change it. The site is looking good! Keep up the good work!
  7. That actually gave me the idea that seems to have fixed it: I deleted the registry entries for ArmA and did the cache integrity verification again (which I had tried and it hadn't worked before) and now it seems to have fixed OA. I guess the beta patch must make changes to the registry that Steam doesn't know how to revert? Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
  8. Hey guys, I had to send my second hard drive to be replaced the other day and therefore had to move my Steam library to my system hard drive. I'm having a problem with Operation Arrowhead and more specifically applying the beta patch after reinstalling the game. My system seems to be telling the beta patcher that OA is installed at the old location on the D: drive (which is no longer there), and tells me that I either don't have the game installed or that it's corrupted. I uninstalled Steam completely and reloaded all the ArmA titles I have in hopes that it would reset the settings, but that didn't help. ArmA 2 starts up fine through Steam after the reinstall, but OA is giving me these error messages: No entry 'bin\config.bin/CfgInGameUi/MPTable.shadow' Error compiling pixel shader PSSpecularAlpha:0 And this is what the beta patcher says: ArmA2 OA is not installed on your computer or installation is corrupted. I'm running Windows 7 and have all ArmA titles purchased through Steam. Does anyone have any ideas how I can reset the install location for the beta patcher or fix the OA install?
