    Arma 3 stuttering issue

This has happened to me even to the point of losing the connection to the server (even one very close where my normal ping is in the 20-40 range).
  2. So I place a player unit (doesn't matter what map. Altis, Stratis, CUP Terrain Maps, etc.) using the Eden Editor. When I run the scenario, I'm unable to 'Toggle View' from first to third person and back. It's working fine otherwise when I go into servers. What's the issue? I looked for some command somewhere in the editor that allows me to force only first person and/or allow third person, but found nothing. Is this the problem or is there a bug?
  3. So I'm spawing a UAV in a script which is executed when a unit enters the area of a trigger on the map. The script to spawn the UAV is this one from the Wiki: _drone1 = [getMarkerPos "marker1", 200, "O_UAV_01_F", EAST] call BIS_fnc_spawnVehicle; createVehicleCrew (_drone1 select 0); This certainly spawns the UAV, but it stays in one spot. I want to give it waypoints, but what do I give waypoints to? As the crew has no variable name, I don't have a variable to use to give orders to. And I tried simply to use the _drone1 variable, but that certainly didn't work. How do I give waypoints to a UAV that I've spawned???
  4. I'm experiencing two problems. First, I have lag between mouse movement and image movement on the computer. This may be due to the type of computer I'm running on (a laptop with a Core 2 Duo) and the graphics card (ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3450). The second is it doesn't take much mouse movement to get a large move on the screen. This is very annoying. Two questions: 1. how can I diminish the lag between mouse movement and the image? Reduce the resolution? Change something in the .cfg files? In the .Arma2Profile file? 2. how can I decrease the sensitivity to mouse movement so it takes much more movement to generate the same screen movement as before? I've played with the X-axis, Y-axis and Smoothing scales in the Options>Controls section, but with no satisfactory result. I searched for previous posts (here and on the Armaholic forum) but these were very cryptic. I also searched the wiki, but no joy....:( I posted in the Armaholic forum, but in 3 days have not had any response. Thanks in advance for the help.
  5. Sorry, yes you're right about the thread. It's one of the thread links in that thread that leads to the 101 pager... Saw your list. It's great. Lots to do in the coming weeks. Also, I found some quite good ACE tutorials by SwissMaverick on YouTube. I've been hunting there for tutorials. There are some good ones and there are some poor ones, but at least there are quite a few. Again, thank you very much, Günter.
  6. Thanks Gunter. Yes, I have the basic manual as I indicated. The thread you point to is 101 pages long, unorganized, so it underscores my point of the lack of a good comprehensive manual. The default keyboard is a lot of help, thank you, but it actually looks like it is for Arma. Arma 2 took up most of the same keys but changed, for example, the 'P' key for toggling looking through the sights of the weapon you're holding. This type of keyboard mapping image is definitely what is needed for Arma 2.

Just starting, everything I need to know

Are you kidding with the thread link? There are 101 pages of generally unorganized, though useful, answers. New players (and I count myself as one of them as I've been playing Arma 2 for only 6 months) need much better, organized documentation and tutorials. The manual is fine for very, very basic gameplay. Unfortunately, the Wiki is not well written. Newbies need a document that takes them through the steps of play and editing. And once past the newbie stage, there has to be a better organized reference document with more details on in-game controls and mission editing.
  8. Hi Guys, This game is great but it suffers from a major documentation flaw. Whether the manual you get with the game, the BI Wiki or the ACE Wiki, finding simple information is either difficult or impossible. I've been watching YouTube videos of tutorials and actual MP gameplay (the 16AA videos are lots of fun). I keep on seeing features (like putting your weapon on 'safety' or examining and treating a wounded soldier) for which I find it impossible to find the proper explanation about how to activate and use it. Even turning on the 'thermal' sight of the nightvision binoculars is impossible to find. Has anyone created a list of the default key associations somewhere easy to find? Sorry to sound slightly complaining but I believe this game deserves much better documentation to help the learning curve... Thanks.... PS and I haven't even gotten into the poor explanations of anything that is not simple mission editing....
  9. Already know all this. Sorry, not a solution.
  10. Hi, I bought CO around the end of last year. I've updated to 1.60.87580. When creating new missions on stock maps (Takistan, Chernogorsk, etc.) I cannot get either of the Ambient Civilians modules to work. I have been discussing this problem on the Armaholics forum and did receive some good help, including someone else's basic mission file that I could open in the editor and test to see if I was making any mistakes. Unfortunately, it proved I was not making any mistakes and that the modules are simply not working. I have emailed BI Studios but I was wondering if someone here has an answer and a solution. Thanks in advance.
