  1. Basically what the title said. What kind of PC would you need (Specs) to run this game at full, or close to full settings with smooth gameplay. (AA doesn't have to be maxed out, but all texture, 1920x1080 res, etc...) Anyone here able to run Arma 2 at max specs without lag? If so, post your rig.

    Input Lag

YES! That did it! So, just for technical knowledge, will this change have any negative affect on my gameplay? What exactly do these settings do?

    Input Lag

I checked and I do have 1.05 installed. As for GPU Max Frames, I'm not sure what that is, but I'll give it a shot. The smoothing scrolls bar I want to say didn't do much. Also I'll give my system a good ol' defrag to see what happens. I haven't tried messing with the Y Axis or X Axis setting for my mouse, but also bear in mind this happens on keyboard inputs as well (And also just tested) but controller inputs do it too. I have a Logitech controller that I use for flying, and it has the same kind of delay. As for my computer settings, I have... Dell XPS Studio 16 Intel Core 2 Duo 2.40GHz 4GB Memory Windows 7 64 bit ATI Radeon HD 3670 (512 mb) My settings on the game are mostly low to medium. Shadows disabled, but view distance is somewhat in the middle. The games run pretty smoothly, no frequent studders or anything.

    Input Lag

So I've seen a number of threads on this, but none that really solve my issue. I have this input lag, and this includes my mouse and keyboard actions. If I move the mouse, I get like a half second delay before it responds. If I move forward, backwards, left or right with my keyboard, I get the same half second delay. Now if I'm in the game menu, I don't get this lag at all. I've done some previous suggestions like "Disable V-sync" in my video options, as well as turned down video settings. I can't seem to get this to work.
  5. Hey guys. DuckSoup here, I'm new to ArmA, but I take the strategy behind these kinds of games seriously, so I'm looking for a team of dedicated players, who are looking for someone to add to the team. Now like I said, I'm new, and I really have no specific roll, however I imaging being the guy transporting people into battle. :-D but really, I can do anything, it just depends on what the team is looking for. I'd also like something where I can regularly participate in clan matches and battles. I've had past experience in all of the battlefield series (Aside from 2142 or whatever it is) and I played on a well coordinated team. /Also, I'm a US player.

So do any of you guys have any clans or communities you would recommend? I'll be honest, I just went ahead and purchased the game on Steam, so I plan on playing solo tonight to get a feel for the game. But I would like to get with a dedicated community with good size servers. Any recommendations? (I think I'm checking out Zeus currently)

Thanks for the replies folks. Yeah I'm thinking that getting into a community would be best. I've seen the Multiplayer guide, and the server list. I think there was a clan called Zeus or something, I don't know. But I want to get into some of the larger battles is possible. It seems like I have a lot of reading to do to jump into the game. Also some mods I have to download. (ACE?)

So is it a bad thing to play on servers in other locations? Has lag every been a serious issue when doing that?
  10. I posted this on the Armaholic forums, but thought I might get better success here. So I'll keep it short and simple. I had purchased the original ArmA and loved the game because it had a more realistic feel to it and so on... Well I've always been a fan of games like Planet Side, and WWII Online. (WWII Specifically) I loved the massive battles for points, coordinated air raids, tank raids, inf. raids, etc. The game was fantastic until the player numbers started to drop off. So I'm trying to find something to hold me over, and one player had recommended that I check out Arma 2. Sure it's no MMO, but from what I gather, there is a strong player base for larger battles. I guess before I invest 50 bones in the game, I wanted to see if maybe this is something that may meet my expectations. How big are the server sizes? Are these persistant servers? Are they like "Capture the point" maps? I mean, my perception may be skewed because I played so much Battlefield in the day, but is the concept the same? Are there plenty of servers to go around? Plenty of players? I'm just trying to gather some information. Vehicles widely used as well? /Also I'd be getting the PC version.
