  1. Hi,

installed ArmA2 for the 2nd time but still game won't start!

Securom found an emulated drive on my PC and asks me to shut down software as "Alcohol120" or "DaemonTools".

No such Software is present on my Drives!

Nor does this Computer has a CD/DVD-Writer!!

Means there is none of this mentioned Stuff on my PC!

I did a registry check and even there was nothing found like "Alcohol" or "Daemon" !

Does anyone have a clue what my problem is?

I did use the search function, but no success.

I did the google-search and still no success.

I did change my DMA-Mode to PIO-Mode and backwards,no success.

I did sent my Analyzefile to Securom-Support,still no answer means no success either!

I would realy like to peek into this game,is there anybody able to help?

    Thank You in advance, guys....

    ARMA2 has securom tut tut

How disappointing, I have heard of this happening with other games rarely, I really don't know how to solve it :(

  2. Completely off-topic but that is great the CEO of the company gets on the forums to give some advice! Along with the devs on here. Man, that is fricking awesome! What a great company you guys have!

    Agree on that!

Back to topic, that's not good that it keeps crashing, whats the memory usage like?

  3. nonono

Iam on a gamers pc and i am experienced. Vista 32 tuned up, stopped 12 useless processes complete they even dont start for example.

ati 9.14 not 9.15 because of some AF troubles ati brings with it.

No other software , not AV no firewall on my gaming pc, only track IR5 and only the needed vista processes.

chupset drivers are ok, my raptor dont need drivers vista bring them.

    hjthis showed my nothing btw.

i can run all other games, like AOC, Darkfall, BF Series PR MOD, Arma1, Crysis Warhead without trouble.

Of course i have the latest DX9 version.

The Game takes GPU power while in forest or while zoomin in, like arma1..Much gpu power cause it looks better. only way to tweak it is reduce fillrate but then game looks horrible.

Performance in deserts or little villages is fine.

but back to topic...i want aa and i have to by 2 gtx295 to run this game like every other game 60 frames stock vsync .. no a joke only have my 4870..

If you want to try to get max performance, you can try this it will save you from manually having services shut down

  4. sounds like i'll have similar performance compared to ArmA. In ArmA I turned down shadows and AA in favor of higher view distances (I can live with some jaggies here and there).

I used to play on consoles 360 and earlier, now I am back on PC and before I wasn't to bothered about AA but now after having a lot of my games at 2/4 x AA, I really notice when anti aliasing isn't there unfortunately :D

Have to suffer with no AA on GTA4 tho, a level of 2xAA will do me fine

  5. "windows firewalls are pathetic" like every other personal firewall installed on your client is.

Im talking about home users firewalls and the windows ones are no good

XP only has a one way firewall useless and the vista/7 ones are not much better

I only say this in the interest of the people posting, I don't want anyone to have poor protection, sorry for trying to help :j:

  6. Well, I've spent the last couple of hours optimizing my gfx settings because performance was a bit disappointing. Now I've finally found the main culprit: view distance. I started out setting the view distance to 3500m because that's what I've always been using with ArmA. Big no no...

Here's some stuff I've learned about the gfx settings:

    - View distance is a major FPS killer. I set mine to 1200 for maximum performance :(.

    - Fillrate optimizer at 100% basically means no AA. 200% looks absolutely gorgeous, but also kills a lot of FPS. 150% is a good compromise for me. (Anything below 100% makes me want to shit on my furniture.)

    - Setting model details too high will really kill performance in city areas. I had to set it to normal to remedy this, but didn't see too much difference.

    - I could set texture details to very high with no problems. Guess that's where my GTX285 really plows through.

    - Terrain detail mostly seems to control grass distance and didn't have too much effect on FPS. I set it to high.

Overall the game still looks stunning, but it's a mixed bag performance-wise. I mostly hope they'll add proper antialiasing and optimize the performance in towns. Other than that, from what I've tested so far the sounds and visual FX like explosions are pure awesomeness. Helicopters are a dream come true. I also tested the AI in a town and they are really almost scary. Suppressive fire works even without any logics and is very effective.

Now that I've got the gfx issues sorted out, I can finally start making some videos :). Requests are noted, but I won't be making anything big or fancy. Just a couple of short, unedited clips.

Good work hmmm I have a similar system just with a overclocked 4850

You can't expect to have everything at the highest settings :D it is a pretty good looking game though so no surprise about performance

I guess we can see what the view distance is like at 1200 when you get a video up

  7. Hi! Iam playing the german release version.

    My system is:

    - AMD Phenom II X4 955 4x3.20GHz

    - Gigabyte GA-MA790XT-UD4P 790X

    - G1024P Club3D ATI Radeon HD4890 1024MB video card

    - 4096MB Corsair PC3-10666 CL9 Kit (DDR3 1333+)

    - 680W SuperFlower Atlas Design Modular

    - (temps never higher than 55°Celsius)

    - (on Windows Vista 64). CPU/GPU not overclocked, fresh BIOS (may 2009)update.

Sometimes there are errors during the campaign, the game often crashes when they appear. Sometimes I get this error (crash to desktop): http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/6549/aaatuo.jpg

Any1 any idea? Iam really pissed off

    That don't sound good

Erm a couple things you could try

    Latest ATI drivers:

    http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx

You could also try running as admin or running in compatibility mode for windows XP

BTW vista users service pack 2 is out, not sure it will help here though

As for now that's all I got, considering I don't actually have the game yet

  8. Unfortunately ArmA II has only been steup with Steam for access to people in the U.K. at this time, it's not a global Steam release -- that may change when they announce when/where folks in North American will be able to get it, but in the mean time it's a no-go...

    :(

I just checked steam from the UK and there is no sign of ARMA2 unfortunately :butbut: YET!

  9. lol, don't put words in my mouth, I just think it's a little.... under advertised....

I agree, I would have missed this game totally if I didn't accidentally stumble across it

And yeah you know its nice to have a community and not too many casual players people from halo and the likes and advertising does cost money but so does making a game and if they don't get enough people buying the game they won't make much money and we may lack people/servers to play with/on

But I'm not too concerned there's plenty of people on the forums!

  10. well even worse a game server host i thought would host this game as there servers are extremely good was www.gameservers.com and heres what they replied :

Your request has been updated by Ryan Corning [staff]. Message Content: Hello spellcast, At the current time we do not support this game. However, if you have a particular game to recommend, make sure you add it to our recommended game list: http://forums.gameservers.com/viewtopic.php?t=1601 Thank you,Ryan CorningGameServers.com

Shame for some reason ARMA2 seems to me like a hidden gem

As in it looks fantastic but it doesn't seem to be very well known, I mean I only found out about it a few months ago and got sucked in straight away I think before that I had only heard of ARMA1 once, whereas OPF2 looks like a casualised ARMA2 which of course sucks :D but it seems to be getting a lot of attention

Sites that sell games also seem to be unknown or slow on the game, Game UK only had it up on their site a few months ago

But when I come on this forum there is always 60 users or more so I guess no lack of interest from the people that count the players :yay:

  11. Good points kt178! +++

The windage is probably too much realism for most players, but bullet drop and damage decrease over range is very important.

I agree on bullet drop and damage decrease

Windage hard to say would have to play it for myself, I guess it would be good and could eliminate snipers all together depending on conditions but it would probably add too much difficulty to the game
