ArmA2 on Linux - Which 'nix'

Another hint: if you only want to host the dedicated server for ArmA2 and no other service (like web, ftp, mail and so on), 32bit is enough, cause the server is built under 32bit linux. If you use 64bit linux, consider installing 32bit-compatibility-libraries (or what it is called). You can find information about this here in the forum. So, less trouble with 32bit.

ArmA2 on Linux - Which 'nix'

Use the linux you know. If you don't know linux, learn linux before setting up a box for a dedicated server which is somehow connected to the internet. You should know about security, firewall and so on. And everybody will say, that the linux they use, is the best, because they know it best. I use debian, but have also knowledge over redhat, suse and gentoo.
  3. as you can see in the first post at the bottom, I have found the problem. Was a mistake by me. That's why the thread can be deleted.
  4. Hi all, have not found anything about it in the forum. Why it says ARMA 2 1.05.62021 Linux Standalone Server on the official ArmA2 update site in the header and in the version info, but when I download it, I will get version 1.04.61018? Also the Wiki says: The md5sum for the downloaded file is ok, but it is always 1.04.61018. What is wrong? Or, where can I get the real 1.05.62021 from? Patching ArmA 2 under Linux

You need to buy a copy of ArmA2 to be allowed to install a server. If BIS use rsync or whatever service for the updates, a lot of people, who don't pay for a copy, can set up a server using the service. So the best would be an updater for linux. I have to upload nearly everything after updating to 1.05. And if you only have 70kB/sec upload, this takes ages for the 8 GB of data. And if your connection reconnects (every 24 hours in germany), then the upload is broken sometimes and you have to upload some files two times or more often.
  6. [CiA] running the server on debian. no problem so far.
  7. signed. running Comrades in Arms [CiA] ofp-server on linux since 2002...
  8. All the linux-admins have to wait, till the linux-version is out. Like with OFP and ArmA1, the linux server will be released some weeks/months after windows server. So we have to wait. It will come some day. We [CiA] also only have a linux server and still want the server as soon as possible, but we have to wait. So long we still host our regular OFP sessions. That's life..... CiA co-op night

Sorry for the downtime of the server, but it was not our fault. The power supply went down and nobody was there at the hosting center at Nürnberg to fix it at sunday. But they fixed it today in the morning so that the CO-OP nights can continue. Greets [CiA]Lobanak
