I wish I would learn my lesson...

Thx for replies. I've written to Sprocket. I'm not sure who it was I got the game from...the email is from sales@softwrap.com, but the link to download is Sprocket. So I'm confused where I should be going. I've initially gone to sprocket...I'll see what they say.
  2. ...not to buy download software again...or at least to make sure I tick the VERIFY AFTER BURN option!! I recently posted saying I was having a problem installing my exe. Unfortunately, from the replies I received (thank you), it may appear that my download is corrupt. The trouble is, I removed the exe AFTER I had burned it to DVD (thinking that was sound...a bit silly now, I know). So I have no EXE to install. I've just followed the link sent to me by email from SoftWrap when I bought the software to go and get sprocket and download the game...unfortunately, that link now appears to be dead. Further, I have went onto Sprockets website and entered my email address and tried all my valid passwords and it will accept none. So, in a nutshell, I have no exe and, it appears, no way of getting said download exe. Does anyone have any ideas as to what I have to do to get the software I paid for? Thanks for any help. Billy
  3. I am trying to reinstall my Czech version of this game, but it's encountering an error right at the beginning of the install and I don't know what it means...can anyone help or translate please? (that'll teach me to wait on the English version! This one first And then this one Thx for your help

I'd also like to point out that I also wrote to Idea Games at support@idea-games.com and have NOT had a response from them.

Update on my situation... After being prevented from playing my sprocket download version after installing patch 1.05 and being told my activation details were linked to another successful install, I ranted and raved on various forums, whilst also writing to BIS at support@bistudio.com and Softwrap at support@softwrap.com on Saturday, both of them replied on the Monday informing me that I had 3 new activations left (whether that means a total of 3, or 6 I don't know). So thank you...still an annoying occurence and one I won't be going through again. I'm sick to death of copy protection being the bane of the legitimate PC gamer and I will buy no more games which use online, limited activations, Securom or Starforce...the latter being all but dead, thank god.

The law is the same here in the UK and in fact, it may even be a universal law. There is alot of debate about it because software companies are keen to bring to justice the full weight of the law regarding copy protection, and yet the law to allow you, as the purchaser, one valid copy for your own use and safety of the product is being blocked by the same law to protect the software companies. Anything with Starforce, Securom or activation keys will not get my money in the future...of that I can be absolutely sure.

Better now? Had enough of copy protection now. I just installed v1.05 update and it asked me to reactivate my key...type in the details and bang... Activation Failed The Activation Code has already been used in a successful activation or purchase. It can not be used again. Please e-mail support@softwrap.com Now I cannot play. Trouble is, I have not had any hardware changes since I bought it, and I installed it once...so even if there is a limit, I am nowhere near it. Downloaded the game from sprocket. This is the 3rd game in as many months which refuses to play because of copy protection issues. I've simply had enough of copy protection. I will not buy a game from now on which uses certain copy protection forms. The only one I support, is the serial key method. It is least intrusive and troublesome to me, whilst at the same time offering the same level of anti-piracy protection as the crap systems. Sorry for the rant, but I really, really do get hacked off about not being able to play a game I've bought.

    So....brilliant and yet...

    By the way...lmao at that!!

    So....brilliant and yet...

The reason I didn't want to start the mission from the beginning again is because it takes an age to get to where the action is....as a previous poster says, because Stevie Wonder is driving. Anyway...managed to get out with half my squad intact...now running to the bridge with 3 lads!

    So....brilliant and yet...

How bloody infuriating. I mean...we all want realism right? But sometimes, in a game, just sometimes, you need a little help...just to get over the limitations at playing a game on a 2D screen instead of having your situational awareness in real life! I am on the mission where I'm in a convoy of Strykers and we have to go and destroy some Shilkas...only problem is, the automatic save loads at a point where JUST as the Strykers stop to offload us....no sooner do I get out, than the Stryker explodes and takes me with it...all because there are 2 T72s coming up fast from behind!! So I can't order my squad out, let alone select my AT men to attack the T72s!!! And I've loaded the mission about 20 times now....each time I get out and BANG...Strykers goes up before I've told my squad to disembark. I know this is pretty much how it could happen in RL....but in a game, you have a second, third, fourth...chance...but not here...because each chance loads and plays out exactly the same way! I mean...honestly! Give me a break. As the title says...pure brilliance and yet so screwed up!!!

    Online "groupies"

No...feels good. I expect that will change when they find out how crap I am.

    Online "groupies"

I would like to take this for an online run, but don't want to waste my time with TK'ers and kiddies thinking it's kewl 'cos they've got a great scroe and they pwn!! So, to that end, I am looking for a group of mature people (and that doesn't necessarily follow that mature = older!! who like to play coop online. I live in the UK, so that would be preferable. I have the teamspeak util and have only ever played Battlefield 2 online...but would really like to play a more realistic game online The one sticking point I may have is I own the Czech version...so if there is a compatability issue, then maybe I'm stuck!

    Version Compatability

I bought the Czech download version from Sprocket (I think that's what it was called) and patched to 1.02 and added the English conversion patch. But I read about on various other forums that the UK version is up to patch 1.05. Have I lumbered myself with an online donkey because of my impatience? Have I made a mistake? I had hoped (and still do) that ArmA is compatible across the board for online play. Also, are there any other patches that I simply can't find? I regularly check the BI website for updates, but only ever see 1.02 for the Czech version. Thx

Dolores (miss2) is very very broken

...the canons back at the batallion that are too far behind the sandbags so they cannot shoot the tanks (you can aim at them, but you'll only shoot into the sand bags right in front of you) and not a single soldier back at platoon that carries an rpg with him, so you're kind of all alone up to all the tanks left, which was 4 in my case... 1 man against 4 tanks? that REALLY takes a few tries. and it's not that realistic i think! now i'm in the sanitation mission, which is very simply set up. and the stupid part is, that both the foxtrot teams and the bravo teams most of the time get whiped out completely. maybe one of them survives with you, but that's it! again very very unrealistic, these are special forces fighting some poorly trained bums who are sitting there. special forces should whipe them out with one SF casualty at most. I agree with these points...and yet, the game still rocks...go figure.
