    M24 sniper weapon system

Hehe back in the addon biz.. maybe i will, maybe i wont We're still pretty busy over at OFPEC. As for zoomable scope. Are you who want zoomable scopes aware that you usually also change the zeroing of the rifle when zooming? The M21 at full zoom is meant for long range targeting and not just come closer to the target. This means you may actually be very off the target if you engage targets at a specific intervall while zoomed in. The M24 SWS is never issued by regular army with a zoomable scope. Instead it uses the mil-dot system for fast range estimation and adjustment. The theory is basically that if you know at what distance the rifle is zeroed, and uses the mil-dots to calculate your distance to the target, then you can adjust the sights without turning the knobs by using the mil-dots as reference. This is for quick target engaging and very effective when you do not have time to sit and adjust elevation/lead. To make this a working addon, the mil-dots need to be to scale. If i dont remember wrongly that means that a standing man at 500 m range should take up 2.5 mildots (its in the us sniper manual if anyone wants to look it up). If i know that the rifle is zeroed at 500 m. then i put the sights dead on target. Otherwise i may elevate/lower the sights a bit. As far as i can range this addon, it's very accurate and very to scale (more so than my M24 ever was, but then we didn't know as much about ballistics in ofp back then . Its becoming my definate sniper rifle favourite in OFP And lets keep OFP the ONE game out there which is even remotely close to real life sniping and not add any zoomable scopes to the M24. Then it's turning into UT2003/counterstrike /HuBBa

    M24 sniper weapon system

Well .. since i made the first M24 way back in the dark ages i HAD to check this one out.. and BOY am i glad i did. I've not had so much fun with a rifle in ages. Top notch job and it whops but like nothing else Please make more guns /HuBBa aka. [FILO]HuBBa now [moose]HuBBa

    Realistic sniping

Acecube. Excellent work. Its nice to finally see someone start taking interest into making a proper Mil-dot sight. =) AvonLady. It was almost a year since i released that but i think it was zeroed at 500 meters. And it was set according to the M24 SWS manual so a standing man took up 2.5 mil's or something. Liquid. That is odd. The image should be symetrical so the offset in the horizontal axis is puzzling. Crunchy. Thanx for remembering me /[FILO]HuBBa (who is thinking of getting back into OFP addonmaking)

    Mulitiple firing points.....

You should be able to have 1 firing point per muzzle. With the M203/M16 you have to muzzles, one for the M203 and one for the M16. They define different Memory points for the firingpoint in the p3d. You cannot however have multiple firing point within the same muzzle, like firing 4 shots simultaneously. (At least this was true for the pre-resistance OFP, dunno if that has changed as they claim they have put in shotguns properly now. =). And for the newbies, a muzzle defines a weapon, not just the actual "muzzle" on the gun. As shown by the example taken from the M203: </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE"> muzzles[] = {M16Muzzle, M203Muzzle}; class M16Muzzle : M16 { magazines[] = {M16}; }; class M203Muzzle : GrenadeLauncher { ... grenadelauncher code }; <span id='postcolor'> Hope this helps, HuBBa

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">What is the capital of Assyria.<span id='postcolor'> Well, that depends on when you are refering to. Around 884 BC the King Ashurnasirpal II establishes Calah as the capital of the kingdom of Assyria. This holds until about 705 BC when the King Sargon II builds Dar Sharrukin and establishes this as the new capital. Then in 689 BC, King Sennacherib destroys Babylon and makes Nineveh the capital of Assyria. This stayed as the capital of Assyria until the fall of the Assyrian empire in 612 BC. There. I think thats finally sorted out =) Now im off to get THE LARCH and have Buttered Scones with Tea while wearing womens clothing Tallyho, HuBBa

    Wrpedit ....

Guys, have you considered that BIS might object to using their boards to discuss a tool they do not support? And having said that... =) Its a kickass tool, but i have to agree with Kegetys here (again =). Its very hard to use for say forests and roads. And adding / moving objects is cumbersome at least. Now hopefully there are some shortcuts to move around objects interatcively and perhaps put out a lot of forest objects quickly, If not, setting down each forest object, and aligning them one by one, and not having the option to copy and paste objects is just to much work to be bothered with. Though i do belive we might be seeing a whole lot of desert islands popping up =) Oh. and Vip, shift + ctrl lets you select a larger rectangular area to use when changing elevation. /HuBBa

    Muzzle flash visible?

Exactly, the ODOL faster loading, better protection from model ripping, etc. /HuBBa
  10. HuBBa

    Muzzle flash visible?

None. But to all fairness. Lets not expect anything until Resistance is released. Then BIS can relax a bit and start worrying about us moaning developers again Who knows, maybe we'll even get Visitor then.. *DROOOL* /HuBBa

    Wrp test

Lonewolf!!! You evil evil evil man So care to share with the rest of us mortals how you did that? =) And don't be afraid to get technical /HuBBa
  12. <YODA> Clean models we need. Much anger is this. Tools of binary we want. Longing great i sense. Future uncertain i feel. Ahead difficult path lies. Most unfortunate is this. </YODA> :P:P:P /HuBBa

    Double sided polygon texturing

Afaik there are no such thing as double sided polygons. You have to copy the polygons and then flip them ie. creating new polygons. At least i think BIS said that in an earlier post. /HuBBa
  14. Ok. first off, if you ran xpack on the p3d in my m14 addon it wouldn't work as it was already unpacked. ie. you should have just opened the p3d directly. Then the deal is this: PBOTool 1.01a (or later) handles the demo pbo correctly. It also creates pbo's correctly. What it DOESNT do however is extract ODOL models correctly. So don't use it on the game pbo. DePBO extraces neither ODOL or MLOD correctly from a pbo, but it damages the ODOL less than PBOTool which is why you have been able to run the textureswap tool on it to do some reskinning. How to extract a proper ODOL then? Hexediting works for me So we REALLY need Filebank & the Binary compression tools (ODOL makers) asap =) Hope it helps, HuBBa
