    H2O

I had a friend who was a lifeguard, and they had to save a 200lb dummy from the bottom of the water. He told me it actually wasn't very difficult to lift underwater. I've done CWST, and the main thing that makes that difficult is the boots (feet are heavier, done flex as well to paddle the water, and aren't designed well for paddling water like fins would be) and swimming with a rifle because you have to paddle with one arm and try to hold it above water. Of course it wouldn't be fun, but it is very possible to swim in full gear. Nowadays every soldier (in almost every major western army AFAIK) must be able to swim at least short distances in full gear as well. I know at least for the U.S. Army, Navy, and Marines (probably AF as well, but not sure), you have to be CWST qualified. -Crispy

    A few questions about ArmA

I'm sorry I don't have time to sift through the 100's of pages of threads and posts on ArmA, so I'm starting this thread. Â I have a few questions on how ArmA will be and if certain things have been fixed (since OFP). - Â Is there a way to get your men to stay close to you? Â In OFP it was an extreme pain to do any kind of fighting in an urban area with a squad because they would stay in their normal open-ground distance intervals so they would be scattered all over the town. - Â Will certain systems be damaged on vehicles (mainly concerning aircraft) that will actually hinder your ability to control the vehicle or maybe eventually cause it to explode? Â In OFP your plane could take a certain amount of damage, while still flying like a champ, until it hit the damage limit and you immediately died. Â I'd rather have it where a stinger or something takes out your engine or causes a fire on board so you have a chance of ejecting before your plane explodes or crashes. Â This would also allow the ability to crash land if your vehicle doesn't get completely destroyed as soon as it touches ground and you don't immediately die the instant your vehicle is destroyed (I see getting seriously injured of course). - Â Will sound effects be improved to be more realistic and immersive? Â In OFP I could barely tell I was being shot at. Â A bullet whizzing by your head sounded like a gentle breeze and barely made any noise if it hit the area around you. Â I generally go for gameplay and place very little importance on graphics and such, but I would like at least some immersion when it comes to the sound effects, it really makes a big difference. - Â What is the water going to be like? Â I'm not looking for Oblivion's water effects or anything, but I'd at least like to have everything look different underwater and be able to swim. - Â Are they planning on improving the AI's ability to use conver and concealment? Thanks, Crispy

A question for you new players.

Changes in the menus in things? It seems like the problems could be easily fixed, but they just don't want to fix them or soemthing. It should not be NEARLY that complicated to vote for an administrator or add weapons and ammo to a crate. If this game had the multiplayer and map editor that delta force 2 and land warrior had, it would be absolutely perfect. The map editor could still have the little box for special scripts, but the amount of ammo and type of weapons in the crates or on the soldiers should just be a simple pull down menu like delta force had. Also, they need to add a few more slots to what the soldiers can carry, 4 mags for a sniper is completely ridiculous. Other than that, this game is perfect: very low lag, extremely good graphics, map editor freedom as far as what you can put down and how many players you can have, overall it is pretty realistic, and my most favorite feature: PLAYERS CAN"T JUMP(I can't begin to explain how extremely annoying it is for me when I see players bunny hop and dance in circles all over the place!!!!). It can't be that hard to just allow people to right click on a guy's name to vote for him, have pull down menus for the weapons, items, and ammo, or just let dedicated server hosts have their maps cycle around like delta force did. Thanks, Crispy129

A question for you new players.

I bought operation flashpoint 2 years ago and loved single player and LAN. I stopped playing after a while because the menus for multiplayer over the internet and the map editor were ridiculously complicated. I had to type all kinds of code just to vote for someone to pick the map or to change the weapon I wanted a soldier to have on the map editor. It wouldn't have been half as bad if there was some sort of list of commands on the multiplayer and map editor screens so i wasn't completely left in the dark. After playing one night where every 30 minute game took at least 45 minutes to start due to the over complicated voting system and people not knowing how to vote, I finally just gave up and uninstalled it. You guys had absolutely PERFECT and I mean PERFECT gameplay with the exception of soldiers not being able to carry enough ammo(soldiers can carry 10 mags and still be able to have grenades and things on them as well, and snipers carry more than 4 clips into the field). Even now I cannot find a game as fun to play or as realistic as flashpoint, but with the multiplayer and map editor commands as over complicated as they are, it is just unplayable if I want to play multiplayer or make my own map. It is just not worth waiting 45 minutes to play for 30 minutes. I've thought about reinstalling it to see if these problems have been fixed, but I would have to download and install a ton of updates and addons if i wanted to play, so I figured I'd ask you people what the menus are like now and if they've been improved any before I go through the trouble. I'm not trying to complain about the game or anything, I'm just wondering if these issues are fixed. Thanks a bunch, Crispy
  5. Ok, this is my mission. It is a delta strike on 4-5 cities and then a final airport raid. There are 2 blackhawks, 3 cobras, 3 apaches, 3 AA soldiers, 3 machine gunners, 3 LAW soldiers, 2 medics, 3 blackop XMS's or g36's w/ satchels, either 3 mortars or 3 heavy grenadiers, an officer, and 2 snipers(well rounded force that can hold off any type of vehicle for a short period of time). I might have missed some but there are 20 guys total plus 12 people to man the helicopters. It is mainly meant as a BIG multiplayer coop game with every slot filled(maybe with the exception of the gunners on the helicopters). But incase there aren't enough people, I have to have my AI do what they are supposed to since every team member is needed for this mission. They have to fight several mech inf groups, 3 planes, several regular inf groups, and 4 t80's, and they have to hold off reinforcements of 3 mech inf groups and 4 t80's that chase them throughout the mission(this is where speed is key, you have to destroy your objective and raid the city quickly before the reinforcements arrive and then take off in the blackhawks to the next objective). I may add more later if it is too easy. I also have ammo crates in each city because BIS didn't let the soldiers carry even close to a realistic amount of ammo. Now that you know basically what the mission is, I'll tell you my problems. First I don't know how to make victory conditions or add several objectives(like one for each city and one for hte airport). Second, I tell my 6 attack helicopters to stay at a waypoint in the town for 5-6 minutes to cover the Delta's while they do their raid, but the helicopters just haul ass over to the next city without even pausing. Third, my attack helicopters also keep crashing into each other. Fourth, what are the steyr augs and their mags, AA missles, m16+grenades and their grenades, MM-1 grenades, Carl G launcher rounds, and LAW missles called in the mission editor? I'm trying to add those to all of the crates but can't find the names. Also how do I do a script file, and can I do the rappeling script file for myself and my men in the game and not just for movie missions? Also where is there a script file for sky diving(head first and then opening the chute low to the ground) from high altitudes? I played a mission with this script file, and I'm considering using it in the mission. Last, on the side I have 3 excellent hill attack missions that I know everyone would like, but I don't know how to use the SCUD missle script file where the missles work, and I also don't know how to make respawn points where you take control of AI players. If anyone can help me, please do, these are awsome maps, but I don't know how to add all these triggers, objectives, scripts, and respawns and stuff. This map editor is not nearly as easy to use as the delta forces' map editors. I'll put my missions up for download as soon as I get in the respawns and objectives and stuff so you guys can enjoy them. Crispy

    New Russian MBT..

Swatch that Russian made POS break down half of the time in battle. The Russians have claimed bette tanks for almost as long as I can remember by going by stats i.e. bigger gun, bigger engine, heavier armor, ect. , but the American, German, and British tanks always seem to out perform them by far. The one Russian advantage is they out number all of hte other coutries as far as man power goes. The reason that NATO tanks(with the exception of probably French ones ) are proven better in the battle field is coordination, night vision capabilities, accurate and now unjammable GPS, and many other things. Of course Russian stuff is better or at least "considered better by the Russian fanboys" if you just go by the bigger is better Tim Allen approach. Truly even today, the Russian tanks are either cheap copies of ours, low maintanence low performance weapons, or low reliability mid-high performance. Also if you are callig it he best tank in the world, you should see the new stealth tank the U.S. is developing/has developed. Crispy

Will we be able to Create pistols?

This would also force BIS to get realistic with the amount of ammo we can carry. Come on I'm no trained professional, and I can hold a LAW, M16, and more than 3 mags, but these soldiers can't. This will be a big bug fix if they allow us to hold a realistic amount. As for the pistols, if they kept the same ammo carrying capactiy, your'd only be able to carry about 2 mags for each gun, OH BOY ! Crispy
  8. What do I do to get my own music in flashpoint? Where do I put my mp3's? Thanks, Crispy
  9. Does your artilery require any addons, like Gunslinger's or something? That would make it even better if I didn't have to download a bunch of crap that screws with my system to use your artillery . I can't wait to use it. Crispy

    My wishlist.

Still, I doubt even 2 soldiers combined in flashpoint would have the realistic carrying capcity of one realistic/real life soldier, 3 mags is ridiculous. Crispy

    My wishlist.

Hmmmm I have another idea for my wishlit . How about inflatable rafts to drop down when a pilot ejects, like in real life. Most of the time I pilot gets shot down in or near water and ends up in it, but since the graphics engine supposedly doesn't support it, we drown 5 feet from shore, so why not let us have an inflatable raft to land on/inflatunder us so we can paddle to shore, or get picked up by a helicopter? Maybe with that, have a rope or rope ladder that operatees just like a normal ladder retty much, that you lower down from a helicopter for rescues and extractions, or rapeling. Thanks, Crispy

    nice lil airplane

Actually that is an addon I was wanting also, so we'd be able to do para drop airborn ranger missions. Also, they don't need runways, the c-130's are very tough planes and they land them in the sand or any flat ground all the time. Look at the history channel and Operation Eagle Claw or somethng like that where Jimmy Carter(probably the second worst president we've had, right behind good ol' Slick Willy) screwed up a Delta Force raid in the Iran hostage crisis. They landed C-130s on the ground there. Another Addon I'd like to se are inflatable Zodiac(or somethingsimilar) rafts for ding SEAL paradrops in the water and for pilots when they eject over the water, which happens quite often because of the speed of the plaens and the small size of the islands. They could havea little infaltable raft drop out like in real life. Crispy

    My wishlist.

Yeah, but it would be much more fun as a black op and as a whole if they got the whole cqb thing down pat. The grenade aiming thing needs to be redone a little and just have a normal reticle that doesn't account for drop, or give us a choice whether we get a normal one or one like they have now that shows where the grenade will go. I prefer accounting for drop myself, and I can be much more accurate when throwing them into small spaces. Also 3 sec delays on the grenades would make cqb much better. Crispy

    My wishlist.

Let me a a few more things(sorry). 1) Realistc shotguns instead of 7 round burst machine guns. 2) A better grenade aiming system, just have the reticle normal like the otehr guns, instead of having the thing up in the air, it makes it much easier to use in close quarters(when most grnades are used). 3) More controlability in close quarters. Add a walk-type mode where the player walks with the weaon shouldered(yeah, they hve it, but the character bounces his weapon sights ALL OVER THE PLACE as if he had no coordination or ability to adjust for is fet hitting the ground, I play paintball and can do that little stealth walk with very steady aim, and I'm not a trained soldier or anything. Again, I'm just trying to make this game be more realistic, it appers that is what BIS is going for. Crispy

    My wishlist.

First off, I saw a documentary on the navy seals and yes their standard loadout for SAW gunners is 5000-6000 rnds(belt fed). Also, theres got to be some way around the whole water thing, and I didn't say I wanted a guy with 200lbs of equipment to be swimming, i'm talking about a light ammo loadout(like the ones we have now LOL) being able to swim. You could just make everything under the surface of it light blue colored and let us kind of swim around a little, you don't have to have full-on hydrodynamics like Camanche 4, just at least let us see, or hold our breath longer than 5 seconds before we die, I've eject and land 5 feet away from shore and drown. Also, I'd like to add a few more, 1) maybe a few very large buildings that are enterable for some awsome close quarters battles, and 2) also have doors to open for some awsome close quarters effects, and maybe with that some breaching charges. 3) I'd also like to see some fire, even if your engine, again, doesn't support it, you cna do a better job then the lightly colored, almost hidden puffs. 4) SDK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is about it, and don't think that I'm BIS bashing, I think they've done an excellent job on this game, these are just thinks I'd want to make this game d*amn near perfect. Thanks, Crispy
