Steamworks, add it in or not?

Sorry, I don't use my hard earned cash to rent intangible products from a company that serves me adverts, encroaches on my gameplay experience with stat collecting bloatware or has the ability to steal back or disable what I legitimately own.
  2. As there's no deformable terrain, how about placing craters?

Will large ships be able to move?

Will large ships be able to move? Well I hope so, otherwise it will be just a piece of land shaped like a ship.

    They better have female soldiers...

I'd also like to see female soldiers in Arma 3, the video above has a selection of female service personnel from around the world.

    They better have female soldiers...

It's odd how some men perceive military service or conflict as a predominantly male only occupation, women have participated in war for thousands of years and in some cases made history while doing it. It's only in the last five or six hundred years that women have really been excluded. Let's have them back on the Battlefield.

    They better have female soldiers...

There are more women in the Chinese Army than the total population of the USA. So, I voted 'yes' to ladies in uniform. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=717_1308676925

    They better have female soldiers...

It's time for female soldiers to get some mud under their perfectly manicured fingernails and maybe snap the odd heel off their pretty pink stiletto shoes while attacking an enemy bunker. Yes, I want sexy ladies clad in black leather prancing around the battlefield nagging orders at me... please.

    Shaky hands & blurred vision

These sort of effects can enhance gameplay in some situations, such as getting caught in an explosion, simulating shock etc. But, there are enough 'hints' in combat (even in arma1) to tell you you're been shot at ffs. All the developers need to do is multiply those effects. Remember what it was like in OFP1 when the Shilka opened fire on your position? 'Frightening' is an bloody understatement. More smoke/dust/particles/thuds/dings/cracks/ricochets/noise = "DANGER", that's basically all you need to tell the player ' If you move right now.. you are fecking toast mate' The gun sights shaking would be reasonably acceptable when pinned down, but the blurred vision is about as realistic as Michael Jacksons nose.

ARMA 2 In-game HD Video released

Did I just see a soldier striding over a fence? Fecking A+ There's so much in that video which people have been requesting on this forum, I'm gob smacked most of it has been included. The sound is truly awesome, the explosions are much better, freefall parachuting (at last). One minor gripe only, the bright blood splurt on the entry wound would be better displayed behind, where it's exiting the body instead. Less red, finer mist, bigger spray. Amazing video, nice features - and thanks for listening to the community.

    Shaky hands & blurred vision

Thanks for posting that link. Well, I hope the developers aren't sticking that sort of rubbish in Arma 2, because that's the 'corner cutting' I was worried about and belongs in a third rate game. Naff at best.

    Shaky hands & blurred vision

I'm not sure about this sort of cheesy effect being added to the game, I think I'll put off buying Arma2 until I've seen some user created in-game video of this. I don't like this type of 'feature' (and I use that term loosely) forced upon the player, I can see it becoming tedious and extremely annoying very quickly, especially in large battles with lots of action and bullets whizzing around. If you want to 'shake my hands' or 'blur my vision' do it when I've been caught in a shell/bomb/grenade blast, or when I'm injured. I don't consider this a realistic detail at all. I'm sure a few of you know what real 'shock' is when it kicks in, tunnel vision in black and white and low muffled inaudible sounds except for a constant monotone ringing in your ears, and then everything fading back to normal after ten seconds. I'd much rather see real effects like that implemented than these (what I consider to be) 'corner cutting' ones.

    Player models for girl gamers?

I agree, women spend many hours on games these days. It would be a shame not to have them represented in Arma2. I mean, it is the 21st Century ffs. It's like the old argument about having kids as part of the civillian population in Arma, you may as well remove the old gits as well then. God forbid that some old granny will accidentally get killed by a stray bullet or squashed by a tank. I think excluding important details from a game makes for a shallow experience, especially common details which people are bound to eventually notice. I don't see a problem with having women represented in-game, it would be nice maybe see an all-female clan whipping some male arses around here eventually (not in the literal sense lol).

Make civy walk on side of road

I thought that was already in the pipeline?

Make civy walk on side of road

I'd like to see civs with purpose, instead of the zombiefied 'road wanderers' like the current ones. I'd also like to see some terror/fear/shock in those faces and a little posturing, like folded arms, heads down, crying etc. Dusty/dirty/ragged clothes? These are farming people living and working out in the countryside, within a war zone. With those completely expressionless faces, they look like they're out shopping at the local mall. Please remove them from the road, otherwise they'll completely cock up the AI's pathfinding abilities, cause major traffic jams, delays, vehicle crashes and probably just get squashed in the process. Pavements are for pedestrians, roads are for vehicles. If you want them to cross the road, create a proper black and white crossing where the traffic will stop. Ah well.. let's see what BIS decides.
  15. Here's a little info on the original game.. http://amigareviews.classicgaming.gamespy.com/carrierc.htm
