    ArmA 2 Demo feedback

Really. If I want to drop to a knee then I dont think about it for a while, then decide yes i'll do it and then take another little while to physically do it. I just do it. And it I want to go prone I'll go prone in the same manner, and funnily enough I didn't mind if I skinned my elbows when I did it or had a booboo with my knee.

Practice with the controle doesn't make them faster lmao. It might make you hit the right key faster but it doesn't stop you having to go through a menu or postion yourself in the exact right position next to an injured guy in order to utilise an action. And how does dropping to a knee take a long time, getting up might take a long time but not dropping to a knee, unless gravity has changed since I last felt its effects. And also you mention you cant rely on reflex to gain an edge, why not? surely thats the point.

get over yourself mate and stop trying to flamebait. No-one here said they wanted arma2 to be like counter-strike or UT so why mention it unless to antagonise. And how the hell would practice make the controls any faster or less clunky. You seem to think anyone who doesn't think arma2 is awesome is simply a ninja COD4 player.

    ArmA 2 Demo feedback

My system isn't a massive spec but its not bad either (lets face it not everyone is going to have a top of the range PC) and I have detail on low to try and get the clunkiness to go away but it doesn't. The bobbing up and down while running makes me almost dizzy after a while. My frindly ai dont shoot me on the beach landing, instead they just get lost and broken up. Some stay and hold a building without moving forward while other guys go running off into the surrounding fields! I initally thought this may have been a smart feature like flanking or whatever but no, its just dumb confused AI. Just like Arma, this game is not polished, the only difference this time is I didn't pay for it.

    ArmA 2 Demo feedback

just to give a little feedback on MY OWN impressions on the game based on the demo I just downloaded. All I can say is thank god I got the demo before buying the game. The control system is clunky and awkward and aiming, the one fundamental thing in any fps, is really clunky. While moving you can hardly see a thing due to some kind of blur and jerkiness, it takes ages for the character to do anything like dropping to one knee or even switching to hand grenades. The model's for buildings are all the same as Arma1 and there are even building models from OFP 8 years ago! (watchtower's). The weapons are the same as arma with the same sounds allthough the pistols seem to be a bit better. The AI is as dumb as ever with the enemy standing upright in the open shooting down the street never looking around them. My AI teamates are retarded and keep getting lost or walking straight into the open instead of stopping at the corner (with their famed cm accuracy) to cover the street for everyone else. The whole game just seems to be really slow, everything is slow, trying to aim is slow, changing postion(prone, kneeling, standing) is slow, anything to do with the action menu is slow including trying to drag an injured squadmate. Overall I find this game just an expansion pack for arma1, other than a few nicer sounds and some more graphics, its EXACTLY the same as arma1 with some addons. I was really looking forward to this game but yet again I am very dissapointed. I have bought ofp, ofp:res and arma1 but I probably wont be buying arma2 as I'm just sick of the same problems of stupid AI and clunky controls as these two things ruin the experience for me.

    Starting up the demo

That has worked, thnakyou very much. I wonder why it didn't come up as an executable in the first place, I'll just sort the DX9 error i'm getting now and I should be sorted. Thanks for the help all.

    Starting up the demo

I cant tell you what file type it is because as I said, it comes up as 'unknown file type'. I try to double click it like a normal executable file but it just asks which program I'd like to open it with, so i tried winzip and it couldn't open it so I don't know how to run the thing.

    Starting up the demo

I downloaded the demo and its 2.8gb. Now it says on my desktop its an unknown file type and I try to open it with winzip and it wont do it. What file type is it, zip?
  9. Whatever happened to clicking on a link and downloading a file. Whats a torrent and why do I have to be a bitorrent client to download this. I should add I'm cr@p at the internet.
  10. Did the clocks go back or something, as far as I'm aware its only 25mins till 2pm GMT.

    Mouse movement in ArmA II

I don't know if it was mouse smoothing or not as I dont know what mouse smoothing is but I definately agree something should be done about the way the game uses the mouse. I found myself trying to aim at a target in ARMA and it taking ages to aim exactly where I wanted because as I moved the mouse the game was slow to react and I ended up over-correcting the input, very annoying.

    Fast Roping

Has anyone seen any footage of troops getting out of a helo? If they get out quickly like real-life i.e. within a few seconds then thats good, but if they get out one by one like they do in ARMA then I think fast roping would have an even bigger use as atleast that would allow men to get out 2 by 2. It would also look realistic as personally I don't think the way its done in ARMA is realistic at all, it takes AGES for a helo with 8-10 men to unload, and waiting for a helo to land on a waypoint is like watching paint dry.

    Fast Roping

Mr retard? your comebacks are getting better and better. You must be really concentrating on this, I'm very impressed. Your feelings on fast-roping have really come through with this last statement, again furthering the topic of conversation, well done. Maybe you should try this style of debate in other areas of your life, if you happen to have one.

    Fast Roping

Cool comeback, your witty banter and super mature 'rockets of bullshit' statement has totally turned the argument for/against fast-roping around. Just awe-inspiring, how long did it take you to think that up? did it take ages or did it just flow from your fingertips?

    Fast Roping

You used the word USUALLY, what happens when you cant land your helicopter behind a house or hill as the buildings are to close or there are objects you could hit, you could drop them off somewhere else or you could fast-rope them, but it should be YOUR decision. In situations when your on open ground and can hide behind a hill then there is no reason to fast-rope so you simply wouldn't do it and you'd land instead, and as you'd be in the OPEN it still wouldn't matter as an rpg gunner would still have line of sight. What was being discussed was its application in urban areas where landing between buildings quickly could prove dangerous or impracticable or you want to put people on the roof.
