  1. Hi, Firstly: Thanks for making these tutorials. Really, really great. I tried the first mission, but to mix it up a bit (and get better frame rates), I tried making it on the South Asia Map. I followed all the instructions, but when I preview it, I get the error message: "BIS_fnc_heliportHeliAddMission. No helipads detected. Make sure at least one of the heliport compositions has helicopter model in it." To make sure it wasn't me, I re-did it in the Seattle map and it worked fine. The only difference I can find, is that when you mouse over the actual heliport location (from the campaign), a tool tip comes up with "Heliport (Small)". The "Heliport" module we added in the mission seems to have some relationship with this map object. As noted in the tutorial - you don't have to be precise with the placement of the helicopter unit (you can place it anywhere on the map!) I can't find anything about this relationship in the Wiki. After some reading I found the wiki entry about CfgBase, which says "Every world is allowed to have one heliport." So, questions (and findings): 1. There is only one, fixed location heliport in the Seattle map and none on the other two maps? 2. You don't really need this heliport for the sample mission (if, say, you wanted to use a different location)? 3. You can add as many heliports as you like. When you start the mission, the player is placed in last one you added.

    Maps

Real maps and flight planning here for Seattle. Handy if you can have your lappy open next to your gaming computer. Make flight plans and navigate by dead reckoning - and turn off the in game waypoints.
  3. Yep, using it in career. If it's due scripting, I Never noticed this in ArmA series though
  4. The answer is right there in the link you posted. (Disable steam overlay in the game)
  5. So after the mission where you have to do some aerobatics, I'd thought I'd land on the LHD and take a look around..... http://www.flickr.com/photos/dtandkt/6301753882/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/dtandkt/6301753732/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/dtandkt/6301223037/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/dtandkt/6301222811/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/dtandkt/6301753180/ Great open-world sim!
  6. When flying the Heavy helicopter, engine 2 torque always shows almost zero. Screen attached (from in the cruise). http://www.flickr.com/photos/dtandkt/6301741604/ Forum doesn't show attached pic with IMG tags...
  7. When using the time compression function ( - and + keys), speeing up to 4x speed seems to do nothing. It still takes the same painfully long time to fly anywhere. I even landed it one time, in 4x, with no perceptable difference.
  8. O I C. Seems to have taken him 65 posts though.
  9. 'Cept in this CIVIL helicoptor sim, I go in to mission briefing and for the list of equipment for the pilot, there are symbols for pistol, rifle, RPG, etc. The radio, GPS and watch artwork in the map are identical to ARMA. Army surplus maybe? The menus and GUI are straight out of ARMA. I am glad I bought it though. I was tossing up between this and the ARMAX anniversiary edition. TOH seems to be a little taste of what ARMA3 may be like. With the very active add-n community for BIS products, I'm sure there will be plenty of stuff to download in no time at all. Maybe even a whole military campaign - using TOH eye candy.
  10. "This video has been removed by the user". Change your mind?
  11. And in that thread you linked to is the fix. Disable Steam overlay for TOH. Steam>Library> (right click)Take on Helicopters> Properties> General Tab> uncheck 'Enable Steam community in game'.
  12. Yeah, I was thinking that, right about when I was.... . But just looking at the whole interface, maps, options, etc, this game feels more like a total conversion mod for ARMA2 - more than a new game.
  13. Oh goody. As someone else mentioned, it is really hard to close the doors in that golf course mission (first time I've encountered it so far). In fact, interaction with objects seems to be a few steps back from OFP/ARMA/ARMA2. The 'targets' that you have to point yourplayer at to do stuff (such as open doors, get in choppers, etc seem to be very small.

    Blake's Autopilot

Nice work here, but....Simply enabling 'Auto Trim' in the difficulty settings seems to fix this problem sufficiently. It's a bit like switching on or off S.A.S (stability augmentation system in a real helicopter).
