Wrecks: Blackhawks Navy & Army

As requested, here's a port of the Blackhawk wrecks from ArmA 1. As said, just a port so full credits to BIS.

The 4 main textures are prepared for easy retexturing by using

	hiddenSelectionsTextures[] = {
		"\glt_bh_wreck\uh60_1_navy_co.paa",
		"\glt_bh_wreck\uh60_2_navy_co.paa",
		"\glt_bh_wreck\uh60_3_navy_co.paa",
		"\glt_bh_wreck\uh60_4_navy_co.paa"
	};

Both can be found under "empty >> wrecks"

Classnames:

GLT_UH60_NAVY_Wreck
GLT_UH60_ARMY_Wreck

Addon is signed, .bikey and .bisign files are included.

I'm curious...what's the benefit of this addon as opposed to, say, just scripting a wreck? For example, using SETHIT and specifying the helicopter's part to assign the damage...

Using a scripted approach like this allows the mission designer to use the same exact set of models available in the rest of Arma2. Perhaps there's a special benefit to this addon, though...I'm not trying to be disrespectful toward anyone. I'm simply curious why using an addon is better than a script for something like this.

The benefit is you don't have to type in a long and confusing line of code.

Having it easily available in the editor is 10X easier...It's just convenient.

i have 298 reasons why it was worth it to make this addon. Since release till now it was downloaded 298 times.

I'm simply curious why using an addon is better than a script for something like this.

Simply because there are plenty of people out there that aren't familiar with scripting. So with this they can simply put it down in editor.

Although i agree, this isn't a high quality, highly anticipated, by thousands awaited addons.

In fact, i needed a break from all those missiles and bombs i'm making so i've checked the addon request thread for something that could be done quickly. ;)

And as i see, there were quite a few people wanting this, judging by download counts. :D

This is a really good addon and has been really useful, although can you pretty please make a version without the doors, without seats in the back and without any missile pods on the side? Basicly i would like a wreck version of Adukes SOAR helicopters so i can make missions like a blackhawk down replica mission.

It's just a port, mate, so he'd need to get permission off BIS to edit them.

Afaik BIS wouldn't mind about such modifcations. However, i don't see a single reason why a BHD-like mission couldn't be done with the actual wrecks. So no edits planned so far unless you can name me a very good reason that would justify the effort.
