this is a dumb question i know, but does the file go into the addon folder, cause i cant seem to notice any diffrence in the soldiers        after placing the file there

Extract all the .PBO files and put them into your ArmA/Addons folder. Then, start up ArmA and check out the editor (AFAIK these particular units do not over-write default units so check the editor for a new class of units).

Look under VIL in de mission editor. When installed properly (and that shouldn't be too hard) you'll find the new units under this the VIL class. There might be several VIL classes, like VIL, VIL 2005 etc. depending on which packs you installed smile_o.gif

Btw. i love the Militia/Police, but the MP5 the police officers are carrying is a little underpowered imho. You have to hit a enemy with at least 3 bullets before he goes down. This is from less then 50 meters, not counting headshots.

And i miss something else: a BRDM with MG in Militia colors would be nice for riot control/escort duties.

hallo to everyone, i made soviet style militia instead of green officer that was in previous vilas_mod

also i found that BIS gave too bright textures to weapons: AK74 and PKM

so i darkened it also i gave better texture to AK74M magazine, now AK74M is used by nort camo teamleader

i also added no helmet moro /rain driver to be used in my 1985 missions as a driver smile_o.gif

so all packs has been updated, if anyone wanna play with darker AK74, PK - download basic pack and other pack

if anyone wanna play my demo mission than basic pack and cold war pack updated today evening needed

my mission uses woodland soldiers addon from ZERG (ZS_WoodlandUS)

1 mission called "first day"

mission is in 1985, actions on Everon, Malden took US reaction on Sahrani

you are sergeant, there is a saturday, you wanted to get some rest on weekend but stuff called, army sends for you car to take you back to base

in base first take weapon from box, than lead patrol to secure small village, what happens next - find in mission smile_o.gif

be aware no medic support near smile_o.gif

Are some of the addons from your last 5 packs already in your previous released mod v1.2 or are they new and improved ones + some new stuff? So what do i need to download if i already have mod 1.2?

The units are very nice.

I have a question, a bit off topic.

I am retexturing some units of my own, for personal use, and I was using you config so I dont have to retexture the original units in the game. I got the units to work, but it uses the original textures. How do I tell it to use the new textures I created. I noticed you put your textures in folders, but I can find no refrence to them in the config. Could you please enlighten me as to what I need to do?

also i found another "bug" ? of ARMA

ARMA favorizes US weapons against SOV weapons

in real life AK74 is one of most balanced weapons, it is stable when shooting

in ARMA

M16 is stable but AK74 kicks a lot and aiming doesn't mean hit

i was winer in mission when i had M16, M4

i was dead when i had AK74 because i couldn't hit anyone and oposite soldiers were hitting me quickly

i will fix this in my next version

ARMA is advertised here in poland as the best war simulator

which is not true :

1 shot from T72 and M1A1 is dead (no difference in front or in back)

AK74 is not stable

AK74SU shoots for 400 m

you cannot jump

AI sometimes fire from AT4 on distance 10 meters smile_o.gif

i cannot make jump to soldiers - it is engine , but bad behave of weapons i can fix, so soon completly changed weapons will be in my addons smile_o.gif

G36 has to big magnification in scope

G36C has wrong model (look at real)

M16A2 has wrong model (look at real weapon)

p.s. also innew release there will be stronger power of static canons and BMP2 cannon, because it it's power is too low, probably changed magazine reload times in tanks (in real tank loader gives different ammo, in arma, when you wanna use armor percing, heat ot anti personel fragmentation it takes too long)

also, hangrenades - no model of satchel when put

but real model like in my pack to OFP

Totally agree! As it comes straight "out of the box", it's not

a "war simulator" or a "combat sim", that's all just marketing

rubbish. It's a "first-person shooter" video game. The tabletop

wargames I used to play with plastic toy soldiers and a rule-

book as a little kid were more realistic "simulations"!

I really like some of the stuff you've done with the retexturing.

when i look at Your weapons and IS this came over my mind

what about 3D ironsights for grenade launchers?

m203 top ladder one at least ... (static is fine i just hope for adjustable in future smile_o.gif

later hopefully some weapon modmaker add quadrant sight on carry handles or via optical sight on sighting rail and similar solutions ...

Nice Weapons Villas!! Most I love the stg44!! Hope you do more ww2 weapons!! Great job!! Cant wait for the first Wehrmacht and ww2 Russian models!! Than some tanks, and the battles can go on!!

I have a small request, I hope you dont mind.

But could you please give your addons a version number? I have completely lost it here. I do not know if you have replaced certain files cause I dont see you update the topic with all links to the addons and you always seem to overwrite the original.

I think many more would appreciate it if you could maybe start using 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 etc etc

This will also seperate updated packs from packs which remained unchanged.

But feel free to use any system you prefer, I just thought I should mention it. wink_o.gif

version that now goes to the FTP is bug free - as i know

lets say it is version final 1.00 until oficial BIS tools and opening of BIS files is possible

now we start to work on missions smile_o.gif

on FTP goes:

(new) M14, FAL, MiniUzi, RPK74

all models were dimensions checked, G3, UZI is bigger for 5%

STG bigger 3%

all models are retextured models from my previosu OFP packs except AKMS, RPK using new ARMA textures

NOW AVILIABLE

Desert pack 17 MB not changed now

Basic 17 MB contains new weapons and definitions

Vilas Polish 30 MB contains better model of PM and more units classes

1985 in Sahrani 25 MB contains few more South in olive drab uniform units using new weapons

New Sahrani 29 MB contains units using new weapons (RPK74)

STG-44 1 MB requires cwc because of unit holding weapon, in case you don't want to download it - addweapon "vil_stg44", addmagazine "vil_30rnd_kurtz"

information about new weapons for missionmakers, people who don't want to download rest of packs

darker AK74 with small/real recoil - vil_ak74 (uses game magazine)

AK74M - vil_ak74m (game magazine)

AKMS - vil_akms (VIL_30Rnd_762x43_AK)

RPK74 - vil_rpk74 (vil_40rnd_545x39_AK)

M60 - vil_m60 (uses M240 belt)

darker PK - vil_pk (game magazine)

darker G36 family - vil_g36a, vil_g36k, vil_g36c (game mag)

UZI - vil_uzi, vil_miniuzi (can use game MP5 magazine)

G3, FAL, M14 - vil_g3, vil_fal, vil_m14 (using VIL_20Rnd_762x51_nato)

also stronger D30 and M119 howitzers (2 times powerfull than BIS)

my weapons with ironsights have no nonsense zoom like BIS, so don't be surprised, when you cannot zoom so much like usual game weapon

ah and i forget

AKMSB and TT for moro soldiers

Vilas, i liked in your older pack how you put in the Nogovan troops.

Any chance of seeing a a retexture done of coldwar or even more modern Nogova units for ArmA?

I´m getting Info that Recoil Data is missing on most weapons. (not AK´s) (missing recoil m4 and Ak74)

Do I do anything wrong?

It works, if I put all the Vit-files into the original Arma-addonfolder (no Modfolder)

and if I start ARMA without Modfolders.
