Absolutely loving everything so far! Just a simple request though, could we get non-medical variants of the Military Medical tents?

Side note: Please rework the other explosions! The new ones look reeeally good with the fake lighting:

Pic doesn't do it justice.

Do I spy a projector screen in the preview pics of the new DLC? It would be great to have it compatible with ACEs slideshow module ;)

Looking forward to this DLC.

Having a trailer center on an in-universe powerpoint presentation wasn't the most thrilling thing. But I hope this:

...experiencing the events from the perspective of various sides, in recollections that span multiple periods of time.

means you're going to play up the unreliable narrator trope with playable flashbacks.

The new van and the cargo drone are looking pretty great, I like the van the most because it seems it can be configured for other roles. Tbh when I saw the announcement I was also expecting a suv like "Tonota Landwalker" type :tounge2: the Red Cross uses a lot of Landcruisers especially because of rough terrain and broken infrastructure in conflict zones. Also no women pfft.

IDAP will have their hands full though, I'm terrible at preventing casualties and if an enemy is too entrenched I use everything, bombing runs, artillery and that Apers Mine Dispenser sounds a welcomed addition to my killing fields. I admit I had an unhealthy obsession with the Apers Bounding Mines since A3 release.:hehe:

This DLC comes packed with so much interesting information, it's awesome. I've already spend a truckton of time in the IDAP showcase alone, just to read all the information.

I was wondering for a long time why no one (BI or modders) made a van with sliding side door yet, since it could be done with current Arma 3 tech and would add a unique looking vehicle to the game with many purposes. Needless to say, I'm excited to see the new DLC van!

As a more 'serious' Arma player, I also very much like the theme that adds to the grittiness and complexity of war. It counterbalances for a bit the more casual and fantasy playing styles of Arma, showing again that Arma is a very flexible game platform.

So far my first feelings are good.

First I think it's admirable that BI took this approach for a DLC. Humanitarian work and war conventions are something that are easily forgotten in military simulation and gaming. So big kudos to BI. Specially to the teams that worked in the "Orange" DLC.

All the new props, uniforms and vehicles are really good. They will certainly enhance my modern warfare mil-sim missions, be it in conventional scenarios, guerrilla warfare or the ones were I add a more humanitarian approach (in my milsim group we already do a good amount of mine-cleaning and even some blue helmet convoy escorts).

The leaflet option is really interesting to insert intel into the missions, so great work on that front too.

On the suggestions front, I think it would have been interesting a rescue variant of the helicopter, it could be achieved by simply adding some of the van-ambulance props like a couple beds in the interior, and maybe even animating the sliding door (I know it can be triggered with scripts, but a straight menu option would make it simpler, besides a FFV pos in that door can be used to assist the pilot when landing in tight spaces). Or import some stuff from the ToH :f:

One of the stretchers could be used as a "vehicle" were injured can lay on, and someone can move around just walking with it, and be airlifted (slinged) by a helicopter.

Seeing the mine dispenser, why no mine clearing line charge?  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mine-clearing_line_charge

And as said before, an all white variant and a olive drab one for the new tents would be interesting.

Finally, in this kind of DLC I'd have liked an advanced first-aid and advanced de-mine option. Although I know that ACE has that covered, a vanilla approach would have been nice.

Finally civilians are being taken into account - a highly appreciated new direction for Arma. Well polished and interesting showcase as well -hoping for a full experience and flushed out mini campaign

Please add female civilians into this DLC as part of the free platform update.  It would ruin the immersion if civilians were to be added but no female civilians were put into this.  If it is truly showing the brutality of war on a civilian populations the female population needs to be represented (since arma 3 is rated for adult audiences),   I can understand not showing younger ages though (teen, child etc)...

erm^4. I watched the dlc presentation on Youtube and I didn't see what we get (technically) with this update. And BTW, this is a war game. No problem for me, I love it and I am easily able to distinguish between a computer game and reality - but many aren't, for mostly opportunistic reasons. Making a presentation which tells "we are peace angels" is a joke. Counter productive and dangerous, it is marketing I do not like. It has the potential to wake the wrong people up - which we don't want. You MAKE A WAR GAME, there's nothing wrong with it. You don't have to feel uncomfortable with this. What you obviously do.

They just made another faction, they didn't tell you what you should do with it. If you want to blow them up with one of the new cluster bombs then that's totally fine :-)

They are actively talking about morals and give money for whatever humanity. It's pandoras box. I mean, it feels the same like some big german company which is accused of being responsible for the death of bees. In reaction they make a lot of "bee healthcare" marketing. Like "we always have been the best friends of bees". Such a reaction stinks. And this is what BIS does. Unnecessarily.

Out of curiosity, what makes you think that they created this DLC to improve warmongering critics?

Heck, when I served, I was forced to have an ethics course in the military academy (I have the degree :D) and when in service, every month we were read few articles of the Geneve convention to keep them fresh. And it was certainly not to have a better PR, but simply to teach soldiers their profession.

It's an important part of war, it makes countries win or lose wars (check Vietnam f.i.). And as such it's cool to have it in a war game / war simulator.

 Disagree.

I like to play with real cause and effect. In games people run around with guns always up shooting and 'nading any and everything with little need for thought except top score. What prevents real life soldiers to act the same? Casualities and damage to the people, town, property as well as the towns feeling toward them and of course the very powerful -world media. This is real deal and what demands proper planning on when to be combative and when not too.

These are the exact ties I want in game.

I may or may not have understood you, but I think you're seeing the wrong side of this. By introducing a faction which concentrates on the 'ugly side of war', it is really, with a sense of irony, glorifying it, especially for those who have a wet appetite for this level of gaming.

Laws of DLC, in essence, is just another immersion in the theatre of war. So for those who can't distinguish the difference between this and reality, it's just another excuse to step away from it, which for fans like ourselves, is of no concern nor loss.

My collected observations on what companies do and did? But of course it is correct, I cannot know their motives. I'm feeling uncomfortable with such a move. I have seen some ArmA criticism on Youtube and I was happy the gates didn't open and flood BIS with that. In Germany we have discussions about computer games and real violence regularly. Discussion fired by media and led by non-gamers. I don't need that.

Will calm down, write no more bullshit, and read others opinions, maybe I do not yet see what this dlc is about and what is the value for us gamers. :-D Absolutely possible.

I don't know. I see it in the opposite light. It adds more simulation and cool experiences for wargaming.

As I commented before, this is one of the important parts in real warfare, how civilians are taken care or not; and what reputation an army gains (specially in unconventional warfare). Vietnam is a pretty good example.

Maybe I'm reading too much into the promo, and bearing mind I'm still at work, but it appears there's the opportunity to monitor civilian kills in combat. Am I right? Is it a module set up?

Would be a great addition if it was;)

A module for morale would also be interesting, when an enemy unit has suffered heavy casualties or are suppressed for a long time, they could throw their weapons and surrender.

A million times this, when I'm playing as the baddie I do a lot of damage to towns and it pisses me off that my opponents always fight to the last man. Even those few escaping and regrouping their other remaining units on the map when I also reach them everyone fights Stalingrad style. They have some sort of iron morale to withstand the can of shit I put on them.

Yeah. The old AI story. But I doubt they made severe changes to AI behaviour, because that is a huge can of worms.

Well thats why mistyronin suggestion is a very good one. A module for this would make it a lot better than currently is and without going to the core and modifying that can of worms.

An archaic example would be  "defending army has a number of units and also defends a number of civvies in town, when that army has lost let's say 80% of it's fighting ability and the civ casualties are also rising to 60-70% then the remaining units surrender".
