Big update to the mountains today, I have increased the detail on the mountains tenfold and basically overhauled all aspects of them, minus the general shape, the screenshots will speak for themselves.

(some of the large upscaled rocks will need to be edited as they pass the limit for collision, atleast its only a few of them :don9:)

 

I was quite reluctant to update the mountains as it kinda puts a dent in my June 30th release date, but I do admit they look good now hehe

This is a picture of the other mountains before I fuck with them (the first one above was so I could practice, and yes thats going to be a castle on the closest mountain)

30th was suppost to be the alpha release but i dont think ill make it to then in a releaseable state

 

 

edit: I have finished the second mountain, I have gone a different approach as the old mountain has to be redone due to major collision problems, THIS one is what the mountains will look like from now on, it is a fucking MONSTER of a fortress heh

finished the 3rd mountain, once i do all of them ill get back to the last few areas i have to built, then its all heavy detail work until i feel its ready for an alpha release on the workshop

Looks great so far! It kind of reminds me of Taviana, but with it's own character.

You're doing awesome work!

Any plans on some underground bunkers/labs? (Like A2 on Namalsk or Ivan's Lab on Tavi)

well theres that cliff that has been sunken in and covered in the very last picture ive posted, and about 7 of the chz objects ported by arman that have seperate underground objects which i have been utilizing, example below

so far every major location has had a few "underground" areas, its easier to hide them in urban areas compared to natural areas due to having to put clutter on the object with dirt texture, the texture not matching the mask ect.

Oh man, underground areas. Its a shame caves are so hard to do. But having some stuff in the urban areas is awesome nonetheless.

Some work adding more areas to break up the long ass stretches between major towns, added a little more detail to some of the roadways because yolo, also did the bridge and more secret shit

Is there any chance we will see a non post-apocalyptic version? I used to play Taviana a lot in ArmA 2 but once DayZ origins took over if i wanted a more up to date version with terrain improvements and such we were stuck with a post apocalyptic wasteland and had to play the Origins mod just to get the map. And this map would be great for classic Soviet Vs. NATO battles like in the early days of arma

no because stalker buildings are already apocalyptic, maybe later but effort everything is mixed in together in the layers i dont have junk seperated

 

made the checkpoint for the bridge and another town

Lookin good crazy mike.  Is there a high level shot of what the general geography looks like or is the map still too in flux...for those of us that are curious....

Ooooo i like that center island in the top big landmass.  Your setup looks like it will be great for factions fighting between north and south!  :rthumb:

Thanks for the vid. A few months back I spent a couple hours looking at tutorials on map building, then my eyes glazed over ...  I appreciate you doing a map that is essentially similar to what I had wanted to do, coincidentally, so great job, and hang in there on the weird problems. Mission making makes me crazy at times, but it eventually works out.

@Developers. The issue with the shadows being visible through models is because the texture file has to be _CO or _CA at the end. and the model has to be hard coded to have the texture to have CO or CA
