Buldozer: Extruding hills and valleys problem

Every time I try to load my map into buldozer, it loads until it gets to "Extruding hills and valleys". When it gets here, it stops loading and if i try to do anything it says that buldozer has stopped responding.

That sounds like your terrain and/or buldozer has some configuration problems. Maybe your grid settings are broken or your texture pathes are invalid.

 

What tutorial/guide are you using for creating your terrain? Have you followerd every step 1:1?

did you walk away and have a cup of tea when 'extruding' came on?

 

it can take a fair amount of time until its done.

 

and yes it will say 'not responding' if you click it.

Mine takes ages to load, just alt tab and go read something on the net.

Terrain is 81km x 81km and cell is 10

 

That's fricking huge no wonder it's not loading lol. What your grid size? I think Arma 3 only supports max 4096, plus a cell size of 10 would make it 40.9km x 40.9km. I think you map is to big, that's why its not loading...

Your terrain is too large. 4096 and 8192 are unstable and don't work for terrains most of the time.

4096 is fine at cell size 10, with 2mil objects :)

We got 4096 with 5m cell size and loading up ~3 million objects in buldozer takes about 45 minutes.

It means that distance between 2 points in the terrain mesh translate into 5 or 10 meters on the terrain in Arma.

So for example 4096x4096 terrain grid has 4096x4096 points that make the mesh and with cell size of 5 it makes 20480x20480 meters of Arma map. With 10 meters cell size it would be 40960x40960 meters map and so on.

Also cell size affects how small terrain details you can have. With 10m cell you cant really have small details like roadside ditches  and so on, but thats the trade between map size and terrain detail.

lol i dont know but i think  is exponential the time needed for start .. but 9 hours  lol .....

my BD  with project 8192x4  32x32km   start after 10 min .  :-)

Make your Sat and Mask in a different file format. I think BMP takes incredibly long while png is pretty fast (or the other way round).

It's well known .bmp is fastest, .png takes ages

And what RoF said: That topics been around for a while, thats why i switched myself from png to bmp and tried it out.

Using .BMP files....

 

My problem is in the generation of mask layers
After more than 24 hours it ended, but I found that it generated thousands and thousands of .rvmat files

Then it took 9 more hours to open bulldozer for the first time, but could not move through the ground, totally immobile and this error:

No entry "bin\config.bin/CfgCoreData.textureLine3DDoted"."


Try testing ingame, 3 hs binarized and 6.5 gb the pbo. But arma3 gives addon loading error
