[SP/Campaign] Dying Ember (resistance campaign)

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone!

Here's the next version of Dying Ember --> Version 0.8!

The download is in the first post.

The Steam Workshop update will follow soon (tomorrow I think).

Important note (v. 0.8):

Due to the implemented persistency stuff (weapon pool, take equipment over to next mission, etc.), a restart of the campaign is needed in version 0.8!

Changelog:

Version 0.8 (beta):

  • Missions 5 to 10 (of 11) were added, plus some nice cutscenes
  • Weapon pool added
  • Take equipment to next mission
  • Many many bugs were fixed in missions 1-4
  • Feedback to the player was tweaked (guidance, next steps, short summaries, etc.)

Known problems:

Hhmm... I think this is because I have set German as the first language in the stringtable.ext... :( I'm sorry for that!

I'll note that down and will change it to English (as first language) soon, but I fear I'll only be able to do it after October, as time is running out for me...

Good voice acting ( even if it would be in German only) would be the icing on the cake. Really enyoy playing this.

keep it up

PS:when the riots start at the bginning maybe use some smoke grenades to simulate AAF using tear gas ...just an idea...

Voices (yes, in German) are in the making! :) It's a completely new level!

Please, if you like it, vote here - the campaign could use some more to get to the finalists. Thanks, mate!

I gave it up waiting for a solution for my Steam Workshop updating problems and created a completely new entry at Steam Workshop.

The latest version (at the moment 0.8) is now ready for subscription at the following link.

PLEASE subscribe there and unsubscribe the old entry!

Download Dying Ember v. 0.8 (beta) @ Steam Workshop

Upcoming in the next version: :)

  • Dubbing voices :yay:(no English though, but some great German voices)
  • An outro cutscene

Looking very nice (havent forgotten how good "For the Life Of A Friend" was in ArmA2) :) Cant wait to give a try after MANW deadline is passed. Can finally take break from editor and thinking of the stressful competition. ;)

thanks for manual link as arma 3 launcher never show any subscribed addons to me and many players and BI still didn't fix it, but for each update we have to come and check this page, I though it's would be better if you also upload it on playwithsix as it works fine and inform us from your updates and we can easily update and enjoy!

what you think? thanks

Hi guys, sorry for my late answer, but the contest really kicked my butt (in terms of lack of time...). But it "paid out" - at least in some new versions. ;) So here we go:

Version 1.3 (check the first post)! :yay: This is the MANW version, so thanks a lot for your support, feedback, criticism, bug reports and your votes (you can vote until end of October though ;) )!

There will be more updates - I have one last mission, which (due to the lack of time) I didn't add so far. But it will come with the next versions.

Check the changelog since version 0.8:

Version 1.0 (beta):

  • Dubbing added (German)
  • Outro cutscene added
  • Bug fixes

Version 1.2:

  • Bug fixes
  • Final preparations for the MANW contest

Version 1.3:

  • Minor bug fixes and adjustions

Started it yesterday. My first impression is that I feel like I've watched through 30 mins of stiff puppets talking to each other. :> The intro actually looks very well done & scripted, but damn, it's just way too long. I don't think I've seen any actual fighting and it feels like it will still take a long time for that. Also I now think that the ArmA engine just isn't made for long cutscenes unless you do everything in custom animations.

Undeceived, one of the best campaigns ever. :)

I suggest adding an ability to skip cutscenes and some revisions of their length. Longer =! better :)

Thanks, guys!

Although I have put the longer cutscenes in the intro/outro sections of the missions (which means that the player CAN skip them), I'll consider these recommendations in my next projects. :) This one was a product of time limitations and stress (for the contest).

But to be honest, my last campaign Black Lands (Arma 2) also has quite many cutscenes in the first phase.

Well, I'll think of something.

Until then - enjoy the story. :)

Oh, didn't even noticed that it's done this way. It's such a rarely used feature that probably everyone forgot about the skippable intro / outro mission parts... Maybe a popup at the beginning of such a cutscene would help that. :p

I'm stuck here. I have escorted Open Hand Altis guy to their HQ but nothing seems to happen. Is this a bug or what?.

Hello dostunuz, sorry, I didn't look in this old thread for weeks...

If you escorted the guy to the HQ, where the smoke is rising, right?, then the Outro cut scene should start. So it seems to be a bug, yes.

Please check if you're playing the latest version (at the moment 1.5) and if you're running mods, you could try to disable them for this single mission. This helped some players in other missions.

If you have further questions, please post in this thread. Thanks!

Good luck!
