Q: Is this a Halo mod for Arma?

A: Yes.

Q: Is that legal? Aren't you scared of being shut down?

A: No, because we operate under Microsoft's Game Content Usage Rules which allows use to use the Halo franchise's content as long as it isn't ripped illegally from the game. We create our own content using the game's material as a reference.

Q: When are you going to release it?

A: Currently, we have plans for a 3-stage release. Alpha, which should be released sometime Q1 of 2015. Beta, which will release sometime later in 2015. And finally, our 1.0 full release, which will be sometime in 2016 possibly Q2 at the latest.

Q: Are you going to include...

A: We have a list of planned assets that you can look at to see if it will be included. If what you are looking for isn't listed, ask about it.

Q: Are you going to includes the Covenant?

A: No, while the Arma engine would allow it with the use of custom skeletons doing so requires a VERY large amount of work creating hundreds and hundreds of new animations for each new skeleton. We feel that the Insurrectionists are a better enemy to fight against with this mod because they are unexplored by the flagship games and they are much, much easier to make.

Q: Are you going to include Master Chief/SPARTANs?

A: Master Chief will NOT be included. SPARTANs of any kind will also not be included. This is because SPARTANs have an history and image of being "invincible" from the main games. We do not want to re-inforce this because with Arma, no matter who you are if you get shot you are very likely to die. There are no recharging energy shields and super strong exoskeleton suits here. This may disappoint a few people but this is something that doesn't fit with the mod's tone or personality.

Q: Are you going to make it compatible with ____ mod?

A: We have a select list of mods that we plan to make compatible. If you don't see the mod you want on that list ask about it.

Q: Do you need any testers?

A: No, thank you. Public alpha will release soon enough and everyone will get to have a taste. Just be a little patient. :)

Q: Can I work on the team?

A: Yes! We are always looking for new help. We are only looking for experienced modders unfortunately. We do not have the spare time to teach people how do things right now. If you know how to model, texture, use Bohemia Interactive's mod tools (especailly O2 and Vistor3) please contact SpaceNavy90 through the Bohemia forums, ModDb, or Steam.

This sounds like it can be an amazing addon mate! I sincerely hope that this goes well for you! I'd help out but I have zero editing skills although if you need someone to create missions or a campaign don't hesitate to contact me. I've been waiting a while for a mod like this and hopefully it has a long and prosperous life in ARMA 3.

This project has been in concept since before ArmA 3's announcement and I'm very excited to finally announce it.

It would be awesome to see a Halo mod for Arma. And yes, if people read the books, it IS a massive orchard.

And on legal issues... if Microsoft doesn't act on the entire model-set from Halo 3 being ripped and place for download on the MOST POPULAR HALO MOD SITE, I don't think there is cause for alarm.

a personal output, i'd suggest giving the Rebels a Reach-Based MA5, while the UNSC has a more modernized

Also if i can get TB to work properly, i can try making a map for these guys, UNSC Farming colonies, like Eriandus II was mostly rural, and i can probably come up with something

So this is based on the pre-alien stuff from that webseries they did, right? That could be pretty cool, since it was by far the most interesting Halo related thing that has been done since the first game.

Either way, though, you might want to give a little more information about the backstory and setting of the mod for people less familiar with the Halo universe (like me).

Halo has great world and rich background story and could use some more tactical elements Arma styled gameplay provides! Good luck to you in your grand endeavour!

Yes, the Halo universe is indeed exciting. As for the legal issues, I am complying with Microsoft's Game Content Usage rules completely so we will have no problem here.

I wish I could add the Sangheili (Elite) but it is just not do-able with my skill level. If someone with more skill could put together some kind of Elite skeleton/model I would be honored to add it to the mod. For the mean time we are just going to work on the Insurrectionists as the main antagonists for this mod. For those who don't know they were the rebels/terrorists who attacked the UNSC over the course of many, many years.

Yes, this is pre-Covenant war. The Insurrectionists were featured in the webseries "Forward unto Dawn" and nearly all of the Halo books.

Believe me, I think it would be cool to be able to add the Sangheili, but like I said unless someone can throw together a working skeleton with custom animations, I just don't see it happening. :(

Imho you should stick to a bit more realistic way the gear is set up. In the Halo games the ODST armor didn't really look that feasible for non-spartan infantry, so I would suggest sticking to some of the concept art

The concept art shows more of a realistic combo of combat clothing and an armored "tactical vest", Bungie's "leg armor" just doesn't make very much sense as it'd just hinder the wearer. I also very much like the backpack.

really? I had never thought about it before but it i think i know how to make that work, shouldn't be to hard just a bunch of calculations that need to be done before hand, might play around with it later today.

I think you could do both variants, a realistic variant like the concept art and then the game version.
