Hey guys long time no see ;)

so here it goes, a bit of a suprise before the A3 launch...

Fapovo Island

Required addons: Panthera, Lingor. (ibr_plants.pbo, ibr_rn.pbo and lingor_objects.pbo)

A short project inspired by an old Red Dawn movie from 1984 (see http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0087985/). There are numerous locations that can be used to recreate the scenes from the movie. Farms, gas stations, couple of small towns, roads leading up to the woods, etc. Map is intended for small scale warfare, infantry scenarios with none/limited air & armor support.

Island has undeveloped tourism (only one hotel!), so you can mainly enjoy the calm nature and enjoy the wind breeze from the sea.

Fapovo is 5x5km area, with two islands each featuring a runway. And also my first 5-meter grid map for infantry fun ;)

STORYLINE

Fapovo is a very small country (only few thousand population) that has seen many bloodsheds in the past two decades. But in recent years peace prevailed. All thanks to a mayor Toni of capitol town of Biaboj. He set up a security of the island with a hired private army group Venator, who is doing police work and recruits local guys.

This Venator Fapovo PMC group is lead by Colonel Bella, who seems to be a good friend with Toni. Another reason for peace in the past years are rotating groups of UN troops and recent shift has befallen onto Slovenian Army. UN has a base in Jabovo where a small squad in stationed and performs daily patrol duties. There is a short makeshift strip for supply deliveries, but mainly choppers are being used flown from a nearby Panthera island. But even a few C130s landed there, too (risky business, runways are seriously short!).

Peace is broken by a mortar shelling in early morning hours. Target is UN base and the village of Jabovo. Reason for the attack is unknown but it seems the mortars are coming from the Biaboj area. Local security intervenes, but it might take a few days for UN to provide necessary support. Troops are currently on their own with very limited assets.

PLACES

======

There are couple of villages/towns (Lixovo, Bumin, Biaboj, Ivanograd and Jabovo) with its own bases providing security. There are three major army facilities in Jabovo (UN) and Biaboj and Ivanograd, both under control of local goverment and Venator PMCs.

Ports and other tourism facilities are practically non-existent, but there are couple of ammo dumps (escorted truck convoys are popular around here). Even a few small farms can be found. Oh, and there are couple of factories that specialize in small arms and explosives. Some say these factories are also specialized in building armored vehicles.

Sidenote: I hope you continue to create modifications for ArmA 3, thanks for your hard work in ArmA 2.

Focht: geez, someone had to ask eh? :) I will convert all my islands (and release a new Balkania one) to A3 eventually, but first I will need new tools, or I'll loose my mind (current ones are too slow, not compatible with A3 entirely).

Hey,

As always you did a very good Island, but I have to admit Lingor is my favorite ! ;)

I hope you won't go to fast on ArmA 3 because ArmA 2 is not dead, and you optimize very well your map on ArmA 2 ! :)

Could you include directly the objects of Panthera and Lingor in the pbo of Fapovo in a next update ?

Finally returned from holiday trip and tried the island. It's top notch! Really the only downside thus far (2h worth of wondering the landscape) is the dependency. :)

Cannot wait enough for this! Will you also convert your AlienZ mod later to A3 also?!

Valken, slight offtopic, ... well, Bad Benson told me he has own plans for A3 and he is the author of the new model featured in my Alienz mod.

I have a MP campaign done for Fapovo, but required addons are quite hefty: Slovenian Soldiers, ACEmod and Vilas Civilian Vehicles pack. Any interest to release this campaign to the public?

Go for it! :cool:

I mean - you can either release it "as is" (lots of addons required) or not release it.

If released, it can be enjoyed by more people then if not released.

I kind of lost some logic while writing this post, but I'm sure you get the point. ;)
