Custom Sign Question

I am creating custom signs.

Create them in photoshop, save as a TGA then save as a PAA using Texview. They are inserted into the game using 'this SetObjectTexture [0,"pathtotexture.paa"];'

The problem I'm having is the sign isn't visible until the player gets within 20 feet of the sign and then it pops into place. Before that point its a white square. Once its popped in it can be seen from a variety of distances.

Anyone have any idea whats happening?

Fixed it. I thought I could have any size but in the correct proportions. Nope...has to be 512 x 256.
