Project Aus

As of now Project Aus is a go!

Project Aus is a ArmA2 modification that will bring modern Australian Defence Force units to the game. Project Aus started off as a personal project between a few mates, but recently it has been decided that we will go public with our releases.

Currently we are focusing on just geting australian units into the game, therefor for our first release a large amount of the mod will be re-skinned or modified community addons (with all permissions and credits of course) as we are currently short of a experienced 3D modeler. However, after we get a initial release out to the public, and have more experience under our belts, we do plan to model our own eqipment. Also we will be recieving 3D models and textures from our friends of the ADF mod for the Project Reality mod for BF2. (shown below)

Anyway onto the pictures, please keep in mind that we are still chasing permissions for some of these units, therefor we claim NO credit for the following models (unless stated) all credit is with their respective creators, only thing currently that is our own work is the skins (unless stated, and this will change in the future)

Awesome! I'd love to see them side by side with US Marines to take down insurgent villages and such. Love to see military equipment and characters from other countries.

Nice work!

I may be able to offer some textures for the M1A1 but am yet to see if they match up.

AAF mod also made a few more vehicles and I'll need to check later if they can be imported into Arma2. Will keep you posted.

i think you should talk to the ace mod team and see if they can help you config these so they work with ace. then they will get more use out of them when ace 2 is release,or release them as a addon pack for ace2, can you just see all the great mods out they that use the same config as ace2 that would be cool.

Looks great!

Hope you put in SASR as well, since any good SAS addons are scarce, even though they are the most reputable special forces in the world.

One weird note though... It might be a good idea to change the name of the mod to "Project Australia", if that works just as well for you.

Hey just tried out the Tiger ingame and it works. It would need some tweaks as the windscreen isn't transparent and there is no sound but I'm sure that wouldn't be hard to set straight.

Also I can apply auscam to the M1A1 but am not too sure on how to extract the Abrams and give it a different class name etc. Maybe if you could do that bit for me I could texture it and send it back?

nice tank, ill get bigsmokeee onto you as ive got my hands full with other projects lol.

ok now i need some help lol. im trying to get the landrover from the RACS side in arma1, into arma2 with my aussie reskin, the skin is 90% done and the model is just the original arma1 model, but, i am clueless with configs lol. would some1 beable to lend me a hand? even if u just post up a example config of a truck or something that has custom textures and everything ill need, or u can just offer to do it? :P

so yer its just the normal model from arma, so 6 cargo positions, one driver. pretty straight forward, any help with this would be great, so i can learn from it and start to do these things on my own.

Posting your problems here isnt going to get you much help. The "helpful" people dont nessisarily browse these threads.

Post in the BI Forum area where a config question belongs or post in a similar location on OFPEC forums.

Agreed, I simply did not play Arma1 without ACE and have held off on getting Arma2 until just recently, will have to just tough it out until ACE2 is done.

EDIT:

ok got the textures working, now all thats left is the animations of the wheels, dust and all that sorta thing, and it seems the placement of the driver (hanvt tested cargo) is off, like sunk into the seat. im guessing i have to make a model.cfg for this? would some1 beable to give me some examples or something for this?

Hey Rhodesy

I've been developing our clan site into a bit of a community news site, I guess like Armaholics and the like. Anyway I'm trying to feature Arma 2 news from down under stuff the main sites wouldn't feature. So I've been posting your Project Aus stuff. We hit the no1 on top 100 Arma sites beating Operation Reality so someone must be reading it. I'll monitor this thread but PM more or anything if you want any media coverage. I update it at least once daily.

ooh its A6! :P, hey mate, havnt seen u around for awhile. mate if we have any major news ill be sure to PM you, till then ill just continue posting here.

anyway, for a small lil update.

ive been working on these landy's for the last few days. and its slowly geting there, currently we have plans for several variants. but for now:

the model with the rolled up cover is still wip, as u can see it hasnt finished being textured, and all textures are still wip

ok just a lil concept im playing around with, as its not just for looks :P

now the idea is to have a script that allows any landrover with this snorkel to cross shallow rivers that other vehicles would usualy stop and blow up lol. havnt looked into if this is even possible or not yet as even if its not it still adds a lil something to the model. and i know that these feature wouldnt do much currently, but we are more thinking to the future since now in arma2 it seems to be possible to create realistic river systems in future community made maps.

also we have alot of ideas for features for our mod, and are always looking for people to help, so if u have any experience in modding arma/arma2 give us a buz
