US Desert Vehicles (WIP)

Recommended Posts

hey guys, i've been working on reskinning the Armed Assault 2 Vehicles into Desert Tan so that whenever someone releases a desert themed map they'll have units to go with it.

I have to also note that the M1A1 Textures do not belong to me. They are from here :

http://www.armedassault.info/ftp/pics/addons/title_desert_vehicles1.1.jpg

So the Credit Goes to them. Of Course i can't release until i get the official permission so if someone could help me contact these guys it would be great. if i get their permissions i will release

Currently Finished USMC Vehicles:

M1A1

M1A2 Tusk (basically the same Textures as M1A1 except for Tusk Kit)

AAVP7A1 (needs a small tweak)

LAV-25

M270

LAV HQ

All Humvee Varients

Coming up:

MVTR or w.e that vehicle's name was..

What I need to Complete the Addon:

I am an absolute noob when it comes to scripting and coding (or maybe i'm just to lazy to try and find out how). So if anyone out there that can make my addons standalone without the need of using that annoying texture reskin script in the unit init parameters, please help me out.

Also Please Tell me what you think here are Some pics:

If you did serious effort trying to get permission and get no response in a reasonable time

frame (2-4 weeks), according to the BI (forum) rules, you still may publish the work.

Of course stating the actual source clearly.

I can help with the config work for you, in fact I have already done much of it...

desert2.jpg

The vehicle textures pictured are from Mateck & T_Bone's M1A1, both Blondak & McNool's HMMVW's and the Marines are BIS' own textures (but not part of the MLOD release). You're welcome to include any of this in your release if you can get the permissions.

Ok guys, i sent a message to mcnool's and i'm now awaiting a response, and yup his contact info was in one of his readme files. thanks

to Defunkt:

THANK YOU!, this is gonna be really helpful. it's just what i needed.

ok we need to share files together.

You've made seperate units for the lav-25's and m270 too? what about the armored humvee with m240? make sure they all have desert varients too.

update:

Alright guys i also have an update, i just finished the m270. i'm currently adding it to the main post so gimme some time to upload the pics.

Well if you PM me a link to the textures you've done I'll config & pbo it for you to trial. Vehicles-wise just the M1A1 and various HMMVW's applied by me but it might simplify permissions if you were to stick with your own versions ex-McNool. Pretty sure the BIS Marines were a late patch (after the MLOD release) and AFAIK there's no standing permission to distribute but hopefully BIS would agree if asked.

Alright i just let me just finish the rest of the vehicles i'll upload and pm you with the link.

About the marines:

Ok well if bi says no i remember an addon called "johnny's marines" or something like that, we may be able to use his textures if we can get his permision.

Huge Update:

- All Humvee varients completed

- LAV HQ completed

all that's left are the marines and the MVTR or MTVR or w.e :yay:

Note: The Humvee Textures were originally from McNools, i modified them but credit goes to mcnools for the original textures

Currently Finished USMC Vehicles:

M1A1

M1A2 Tusk (basically the same Textures as M1A1 except for Tusk Kit)

AAVP7A1 (needs a small tweak)

LAV-25

M270

All Humvee Varients

LAV HQ

Coming up:

Thanks for the support guys,

to Rogue Trooper:

I've never thought of that, if this addon goes successful i'll see what i can whip up for the Russians

to MarineSeaKnight:

thanks, yeah i've been using Avgani, Afghan Village, and Razani maps using caa1. i've actually got a lot of maps. Almost every map works but with a few missing buildings, and objects. opx's maps work almost perfectly since they provide most of their content.

What do you guys know about russian vehicle camos?. if i'm gonna be doing the russian vehicle camos i'm gonna need some resources. to me, to be honest, the arma2 russian vehicles seem to be perfect for desert terrain already. well if people really want to i'll try and create a seperate addon for the russians when i'm finished with this one
