SP Mission: Operation Enable Sky

ARMA 2 SP MISSION: OPERATION ENABLE SKY v1.0

This is my second ARMA 2 mission. I have also released the SP mission "Morning Assault", around two weeks ago. This time around I have learned so much more about the editor. I hope you will enjoy this mission!

*UPDATE* CHANGE LOG v 1.1

Have been polishing the mission, hope that everyone that got problems before will give it another go. Thanks for all the input that made this possible!

- Optimized overall performance.

- There should now not be any reason for the choppers to change course / not land.

- Changed so that mission does not fail if a squad member dies in the first part (this is not true for the transport).

- Added random enemy patrols during the first part to compensate for this.

- Changed so that a truck with soldiers will reinforce your squad if any losses were made before the chopper part.

- Fixed a bug where the AT specialists had the wrong ammo and were unable to use AT weapon.

- Before the assault on Grishino, Bravo, Charlie, Delta should now report properly when in position.

- Fixed so that the armor support will move more with the squads instead of charging into Grishino alone.

- Added some enemies in Grishino.

- The attack on Grishino should now be more balanced.

MISSION SHORT INFO

Bravo starts out in the woods and need to clear the western front from AA defenses. Bravo will also take part in a big scale assault together with Charlie, Delta and some armor support.

put in the arma 2 missions folder if your using xp use this C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2 Then just do as you normally do and load it up.. should work ... all missions should have either co in front of mission to indicate if its co-op gameplay that can be used in multiplayer if its sp thens its singleplayer and only you can play it.

Just dled, will play it abit later. However from seeing the briefing screen, you gave the AT troopers M136's with SMAW rounds... :confused: Therefore AT troopers = ineffective unless there's a box around in the beginning.

Looking forward to having a blast at this tonight,is that the same village as in BIS's village sweep? I enjoyed your last one although I never finished it as I couldnt figure out how to complete once the enemy were all dead/retreating!

Looks like your settings are about the same as mine judging by the screen shots!

Really nice mission !

Im at the last tunguska and one of my men got killed, so had to abort, but so far really liked the mission. Theres probably more suprises ahead :)

Liked your previous mission also.

Maybe you will try to put a solid campaign together in the future :) would really like to see that.

Anyway looking forward for new missions from you. :)

Nice mission for as far as I got.

Like someone else pointed out, your squad's AT soldier have the wrong ammo.

I think, considering the task and the opfor, taking out the AA armour with no losses is a bit steep. Perhaps change it 50% or 25% loss. Having to reload because you lost one guy when the opfor outnumber you x6 or x7 is frustrating. Just my opinion.

The other two squads BHs didn't land to pickup charlie and delta so the one I'm on is just hovering over the forest on a wait command. Retried with same result.

Thanks for the respons this far! I will try to post a updated 1.1 version this weekend with all the feedback I'm getting.

When you play your own mission so many times to find bugs etc, it's hard to balance since you know where everything will happen etc. I didn't realize it was too hard! This I will look into! Thanks!

This is really wierd! I've tried this part around 20 times, and never did I encounter this... will try look into that.

After playing your mission, I love it! Just only problems were mentioned prior, and one more issue with the choppers: they sometimes travel too low and crash into trees, perhaps its not your fault there.

I'm also having problems with the chopper part. The choppers that were suppose to pick up the other squads were just flying 75m in the air while the squads just run under it. The third chopper hovered about 1 foot of the ground but didn't land so it took me a while to get in but when I did the chopper left without the rest of my squad and crashed into a tree.

Fantastic mission! The chopper pick up & then flying in formation to the last objective is really well done I thought (no helicopter crashes that others have reported), and the reinforcements for the last tunguska caught me out,luckily I brought the APC further up & it had a field day with the enemy infantry!

Only problem I have found so far is that nothing happens once we get within about mile of Grishino, my squad took out an enemy platoon in the woods after we got out of the choppers,then the two abrams tanks & charlie squad advanced towards the town, Charlie stopped in the woods & the two tanks took up positions either side of Grishino,and I took my squad up to where it says "wait", after a while nothing was happening so I took my squad towards the town alone hoping the others would join in once we started taking some fire, but none did & we got slaughtered! Im not sure if it was a faulty trigger or if I missed something?

Other than that it was a real pleasure to play & you definitely know how to set up a good battle without being over the top, more please! :D

Really, Really GREAT mission!! And I've been playing these games for years.

The first mission I have played that was solid as a rock in terms of design and pacing and the first that didn't end up frustrating me so much that I gave up.

I played the whole thing through on Regular and lost one man in the last act!

The 1 (not unmanageable) squad under your command and High commander for a single APC; combo works like a charm, add to that the red smoke drops, planned assault and chopper pickup and it made truly the best SP experience i've had in a long time.

Great mission, but the first attacks on the Tunguskas could have some more random patrols maybe. Not necessarily around the targets itself but close by. Random is key though with probability of precense and big completion radius (or what they call it in ARMA2?) that they wont walk to the same place twice when patrolling.

The Tunguskas was very easy to take out. The battle afterwards was better. :) (have myself saved there since yesterday.)

But your becoming a great mission maker mate! Keep it up.

Im still getting problems with the assault on Grishino part of this mission unfortunately! Mostly that once the helicopters reach their LZ's the soldiers inside either dont get out,or they do,advance so far & then stop & wont budge any further! On one go the choppers skipped the LZ's altogether & tried to land on the other side of Grishino, but they just hovered there rather than going low enough for us to get out :confused:

Great mission,i really enjoy this one, just seem to be having trouble with this last part of it!

I having trouble with the APC at the beginning....I get my unit in and pick a location on the map but we don't move. I try to find a way for me to drive the APC but no luck. I went through the manual several times but I can't find a solution.

Press ctrl+space. You use the commander interface to give orders to the APC.

Since my men have the wrong ammo for the m136, how do I make them drop the SMAW ammo and take m136 ammo from the truck?

What you need to do is right at the beginning of the mission,pick the AT soldiers one at a time,press 6 & a menu will come up with the option "gear" in it, click that & your man will walk up to the ammo crate near the officers table & his gear menu will open up,then just exchange the wrong ammo for the SMAW ammo or vice versa :) its probably not the best way of doing it but thats how I figured out to get round it myself,hope that helps!

Not that it made much difference as they decided to waste rockets on infantry in the first contact I made, thats an AI issue rather than the mission though

Yeah, select it with the lasso and click to give it move order/waypoint.
