bad serial key

I get "bad serial at startup" when i try and run arma 2 i know there are other fourms already but i found no answers among them. I have the boxed version( i can even take a picture of it to prove) and a few weeks after buying it i started getting this error message and people said run as administrator to fix, well i have been doing so for a while now and i am not pleased i bought this game and i cannot play it i morph into a bird every 10 minutes or i get the deaded BSOD. This all started when i was getting the BSOD error, i decided to unintall the game from my desktop computer because it seemed to crash all the time and try installing it on my laptop to see if it would be any better. Of course i get :bad serial at startup" so i cant really play now because the game crashed on one computer and fucked up on another. Why is it that when somebody buys a game for ps3 or xbox they can play it on there xbox and if they would like, take it and play it on another xbox at their friends house but we cannot even install a game i bought on a different hardrive i own, to see if the game will actually work properly and not crash all the time because of the shitty software they made. are they really not going to fix this i like this game but it feels like i am being fucked over and i dont really want to buy another copy of the game just to play the game finally:S havent even beatin the campaign yet.

did anybody find any solutions to these problems(BSOD, or "bad serial key") and i cant return the game because i bought it a while ago now.


EDIT: sorry i thought i was in trouble shooting wrong tab, also i know about the fade and as far as i know no one else has my serial just me and i uninstaller and reinstalled on my laptop because the game crashes on my pc, and i dont have my receipt anymore just my box..i would like to fix the problem and play whatever i guess ill just take it outside and dig a hole and throw it in what a piece of crap

You can return the game regardless of how long ago you bought it so long as you have proof of purchase....

Also a couple of other things a) this isn't a mod issue so why did you post it here? and b) there are lots of threads on this subject that can be found by searching. If you have proof of purchase etc etc i believe you can contact placebo on these forums and he can get you a new key.


p.s. as my good friend Eki. states the bird thing is a fade which means either somehow someone else got your key or you somehow activated the BIS anti pirate functionality or you are running an illegal copy of the game.

Also let me asking you a few follow ups...are you sure you uninstalled it from your dekstop before installing on your laptop? Because if you had it installed on both and tried to get online with it (so a friend could play also) then thats what messed you up. Also if you leant your friend the game then that would mess you up also. Before blaming "shitty" software you might want to check what you did a little more carefully. BIS can make some buggy games but those bugs are in game (i.e. they are game feature related and not fade related). I can't think of an instance where someone has activated fade and it hasn't been their fault. Not trying to flame you here just saying i'm 99.9% sure that you made a mistake with something somewhere along the line. Either way this will be easily resolved if you can provide proof of purchase etc.

I was to reply on this until I seen the "because of the shitty software they made". You really think you get anything out of it by insulting the developers in their own forum?

You turn into a bird only if you use a modified game executable, either by using a cracked executable or infected by a virus. The "bad serial at startup" is probably because the cd key you're using has been used by dozens of people by now.

BTW, that "shitty software" runs just perfectly fine here since release and in all the months I had not a single BSOD or crash - except I was the reason for the crash while editing a mission.

LOL THE BOX BESIDE ME and know what i dont care if i insult the company if when i bought the game i have a modified game execulable, they deserve it for making it impossible to install properly and u cant say i have a pirate version lol ill go take a pic of it with the box and with this fourm open

lol I DIDNT MODIFY THE EXE "STUPIDO"!!!! whatever close this thread, box is heading into a hole as we speak and i wont buy again from bistudio, both codemasters and bistudio have made shit software and did any of you read my first post I UNINSTALLED IT because it was crashing on my desktop BSOD every 10 min, then i reinstalled it on my laptop to try it there because i wanted to play the game i bought. anyway thanks for the support(sarcastic) love the second i say bad serial key everyone says OOHHH crack.....its not
