I agree the demo was rather boring, it did not catched my attention as i found my try at it being just uninteresting.Never got the love affair with Ghost Recon though I never owned it. I guess the demo is not indicitive of it's greatness as I found that utterly boring.
It was reading some of my friends that opinion on this genre i trusted, making an extremely positive review of the full game that got me buying it.
Never regretted this money spent, the game was so good that i even went to buy both expansion when they were released.
Replaying it from time to time is always a nice experience especially with the very good quality mods and campaigns available.
GR has a lot of very high quality mods, i always have that Spetsgruppa Vympel installed along many other mods (currently in the middle of the nice campaign/mod "Udmurtia Spetsnaz" ) .Originally Posted by Mr Burns

Although I've ran modded OFP longer than playing ARMA 1 & 2 combined, I still have to put them first before OFP....So it would go ARMA 2 - ARMA 1 - OFP.
No other set of games gave me the building blocks to actually make my own fun like they have. Large maps, endless replay are only the tip of the iceberg. All war games I play are judged by my experience with these , so the bar is set rather high.
COD-MW games and their ilk need not apply for space on my HD.
1 of the best RTS games out there.

Hidden and Dangerous 2 is really, really great. If you can get your hands on it, do it as quickly and as soon as possible.
The control scheme is still among the best in the genre, as there are numerous ways to move around.
You can sneak, walk, jog, and sprint, most of these movement speeds can be utilized in the games three body stances (which are obvious and i guess need no mention), obviously there is leaning, climbing on stuff up to shoulder height.
But most importantly, almost all of the missions have been designed with so much care for level design that even though the graphics are outdated by now, the game still looks great because it looks kinda vintage but still has an awesome amount of detail, just like Mafia is still fantastic in that way.
The variation of missions is amazing, and you'll almost never get the same objective twice.
Examples: the taking and clearing of a U-boat stationed at a small glacier island, ambushing a train in a tunnel clearing the entire train of Germans in very close quarters combat, setting up an ambush in a small town in the Chzech republic, defending a bank complex in France, retrieving top secret info from German tech labs in Poland, the assault of a coastal battery located in an old castle on the coast of France, helping local resistance clearing out a local farmland and capturing a local traitor, and one of my favourites: using a small diveboat for 2 men to deploy explosives on the hulls of warships guarding a larger vessel, which then needs to be cleared out in search of a special decoding box etc.
The mission terrains are very varied as well, going from Poland to France, Africa, Burma, etc etc.
There are a lot of weapons too, and soldiers can gain experience with each of them, though sometimes not very noticeable.
Imagine that if you use a rifle throughout the mission, the character might improve his rifles stat with 0.3%.
But after the long campaign is over, he will have improved, and having him die after so many missions and finally getting good (other then Ghost Recon, where i thought of it mostly as a gimmick, because it was pretty quick), you really care for them.
Simply put, get it ASAP. And that goes for everybody.
Oh, and the expansion too, because then you get to play it in coop.
Definetly SWAT3, im not much into CQB gameplay but you have to give credit where credit is due and SWAT3 simply nailed it.
R6 was tactical but it lacked the authenticity and a.i.
GR was cool, thats about it.
OFP and Arma series are not tactical shooters, seriously.
