Thread: [SP] Swordfish Trilogy

    [SP] Swordfish Trilogy

Yet another of my OFP conversions made while on a nostalgia trip.

You're a member of SEAL Team 6 aboard the USS Khe San. In the three missions you are operating behind enemy lines, capturing a russian General, destroying air defenses and destroying a crashlanded Seahawk.

The Swordfish Trilogy was originally created by [EAP]King 6 for Operation Flashpoint (the original!) Famous Avon Lady modified and fixed the missions in 2003 so they work with the 1.3 version. Finally I spent a couple of weeks converting the missions to ArmA2 using Sgt. Ace Everon. I tried to keep the missions as close to the original as possible but using some new features from ArmA2, exchanged scripts with more actual ones and in case of Swordfish III, moved the mission from Kolgujev to Everon. Each of the missions has a lot of enemy patrols so you may need a decent system to run them lagfree. For the patrols I'm using Kronzkys UPS instead of waypoints which make the missions more random. All missions have weapon selection and using the first aid modules.

The missions are supposed to be played as Singleplayer, however I made all slots playable so in theory you should be able to play them as Coop for up to 10 players as well.

Even though the version says 1.0 I would call this an open beta, so better be prepared for the one or other issue with the missions.
Feel free to report bugs either here in the thread or by PM but atleast give constructive feedback, "the damn thing doesn't work" doesn't really help anything.
Please try to make as detailed reports as possible so I can quickly locate the problem and fix it. It's fine to report MP related problems however I cannot guarantee that I ever will fix them.

So finally here's what you were waiting for.

    Swordfish Trilogy v1.04

    Thanks to:
    - Norrin for quickly making me a rope transport and paradrop addon/script.
    - Kronzky for his UPS script and converting my scripts to sqf.
    - MrMurray for his artillery script (which I converted to sqf).
    - toadlife for his original random weather script.
    - ArMaTeC for his LHD spawner.
    - [EAP]King 6 and Avon Lady for the original missions.

    Required Addons:
    Sgt. Ace Everon
    LAV Ropetransport

Important: In Mission #3 it is important that you destroy the wreck using the added action menu entry - DO NOT destroy the wreck with satchel charges or rocket launchers.

Please note: You are not allowed to port this mission (or parts of it) to Arma 3!

Ah another set of W0lle missions. Downloading this ASAP.

    A2: US Marines v1.2 | Force Recon v1.2
I keep having people ask me if I'm going to 'port' my work from A2 to A3. I'm not going to 'port' anything. Will I be making new original work? Possibly.

    @Wolle

Ha! This is a little surprise!

I remember exactly that it was the first user made mission I played for OFP.
And you know what? I remember exactly why Avon Lady remade this pack.
It was me, who suggested to her to rerelease this trilogy. Even the expression trilogy was suggested by me...ok, ok enough self praising. (You can read about it on her site, if its still up)

Thank you for remaking it and bringing some great nostalgy back from OFP.

PS. I wonder if King6 gets to know somehow that his mission got a revival after some 8 years!

Thanks WOlle, you've just saved my day, been trying to get my little Stalker to sit down next to the fire, he won't have none of it.

I will now go and play some...
    Thanks.

Yes it was too one of the first missions I played, I remember that long way down the valley to Saint Pierre very well.

I tried to contact King6 prior the release of these missions but never got an answer, I guess he's another MIA.

We just started the 1st mission in COOP and we love it!
Some issues that we noticed so far....
    1. Briefing Screen Map - The graphics on the map were messed up for he (the host) but the clients map graphics seemed to be correctly positioned.
    2. In the mission briefing, it said we would be inserted under the cover of darkness but it is light, it looks as though the sun is setting though.
    3. When we inserted by helo from the FOB, it didn't land, it just hovered until we all ejected and parachuted in......we didn't read anything about parachuting in so we were assuming it would land.

Thanks for making the mission, we are enjoying it!

    Thanks for the report.

    1) Actually no idea what could cause this but will do some tests in MP. If it happens again, could you provide a screenshot?

    2) I kept the same time but it seems different in A2 so I added +1 hour. Mission starts now after sunset. Until the team is inserted it should be dark.

    3) You don't have to parachute, the helicopter lands and once the leader is out, the rest of the team disembarks automatically. Guess the AI pilots don't like the insertion zone that much. Tweaked that in v1.01 and works okay - atleast is SP.

I do some checks again today and upload the v1.01 tomorrow except someone else comes up with issues.

From what I have seen in the past, unless you have the helo land in a big open area...then there will always be issues with the AI pilots. When I first saw the landing zone I figured the helo wouldn't land.

Thanks for the mission and updates.....we are going to play them all tomorrow!
