Here are some pictures of Mogadishu I've found, it really hasn't changed at all since 1993 so you shouldn't have to worry about finding time-related pictures.

ST_Dux: "Conspiracy theorists aren't the great skeptics that they envision themselves to be; they are a weak sort who cannot for the life of them accept the fact that some things -- most things, actually -- happen for no reason at all. There is no master plot; there is no system; the only thing consistent in this world is inconsistency.
The prop itself is made of a Thompson m1a1 submachine gun with a spas 12 with the slide reversed on the bottom and some set dressing. I would just take some sights from a weapon you think looks good and put them in the carry handle... maybe the sights from the Thompson m1a1.
I don't have any resources for what they used for sights but here's a very good resource showing the exact measurements of all of the features of the pulse rifle and its various components.

Those sights look a lot like the ones from the AUG, G36, or M16
Ah my book says its a leaf pattern sight....
Oh yeah and regarding the BHD Mogadishu I believe it was filmed in morocco instead of magadishu.. because theyre still a bit lively ou there... I think Mogadishu is meant to be more red earthed but thats only what ive heard/remember so dont take my word for it. Cheers max will check the link when I'm back home..

if anyone has the time and will, i would love some HD images (upclose where possible) of the Russian BMPT.
Did some search around the web, but while US stuff is easier to find, RUS is..well. Especially if you don't related with the language whatsoever..
A translation of the following would also help out...
