crash to desktop, no textures now? pics inside

built up a brand new PC, using some quality components.

8gb RAM
Intel i7 CPU
GeForce Gtx270 (i think its a 270) gfx card...
running Windows 7 (is this a problem?)

Ran Arma 2 fine for about 20 minutes. Then randomly it crashes to desktop. I restart and i get fluxuating textures, or NO textures. I restart the game, still the same deal, NO textures it appears. Restart the PC, and still, no dice.

Most current DirectX installed, got a good gfx card, and i kill the rest of the required and recommended specs for the game...shouldnt have a problem.

What is causing this?

I had this very same problem. If you can do a simple test so I can be 100% sure if this is the problem.

Remove your GTX video card, and try it with a different card. If the replacement card works just fine it's your GTX video card.

I had a GTX 285 Overclocked card and that's what it did to me. So I called Nvidia talked to one of their peeps and he said its a comon problem for the GTX card's comming out of the box falty. So just return it and get another one you sould be good to go.

Depending on how long you had the card you might have to send it off to nvidia to get a new card. I would also recommend reg the card so you have your life time waranty (I think it is) for the card.

Luckily I found the answer by simply googling it.

Turns out Arma 2 cant use 8gbs of RAM, which ive got. I added "winxp" at the end of the target for the shortcut to the game and now it will read only 6gb of RAM. Works perfectly know. Strange thing, but true...simple fix for a major problem
