Convert obj

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I was wondering if it was possible to convert a 3ds max model into an island ?

The thing is i have created a small island in 3ds max and i'm unsure how vistor 3 works so i dont want to design the island again using it.

So im wondering if i can convert the obj file to something else so i can use it in vistor ?

Thanks for any help

Marcus

I would suggest, No, not without a LOT of work.

If you are talking a fully textured island (plants ?) etc, even more work.

If you just want the terrain 3d, then I'd guess there might be a program that would export the points as a data file, but again I'd suggest there'd be a lot of work wrangling that file so Visitor would read it.

No it's just the island its self. All fully mapped and textured. It did have buildings on it but i removed them and got them into o2. So i have the buildings ready for the map lol.

But thanks for the help, looks like ill have to start learning visitor to get the island into game. Should be to hard lol (famous last words)

Render your object in 3DSMax from a top orthographic view (no perspective) using Z depth material\Z g-buffer channel. This'll create a grayscale image that can potentially be used as an elevation map inside Visitor. Objects and textures are another story though...better off just working directly in V3.
