Deadfast 43 Posted December 25, 2009 (edited) A7rzrba-jSs(Blocked by Sony for Germany, thanks, Vimeo link here) Firstly, Merry Christmas if you are reading this message on the 25th December! TNL, short for The New Life, is an upcoming role playing game for ARMA2. We have tried moving away from the 'Cops & Robbers' gameplay for our mod and focus on actual role playing game play. So, what does this mean? Well, you will undertake the role of a character. You can give him a first and last name and that is how he will be known throughout the game to others. This is your new life and this character will be what your bank, corporations, skills etc are based upon. You can have more than one character if you wish, thus allowing you have more freedom as to what you want to do within the game without having to change your whole life from one career path to another. It's not easy in real life, so it won't be for your character. We got so many things lined up for development for TNL; all of which are very interesting. The important aspect of all of our features is that there is little or no AI involved. Prices, stocks and all relevant things like that are not just made up or automatically filled. The characters (who are also the players) are the ones who control the whole game. They will rely on others to keep them alive, to give them a job and even have a car available for them. This is most likely the first time a player will need to contribute to the game to keep it going. There is no room for selfish players here! With that in mind, it means you also have a large variety of career paths based on skill that you gradually build over time and experience of working either in your own time or as a job. In December up until Christmas Day we have posted information, screenshots and videos of what is possible within TNL as part of our Xmas Advent Calendar. You can check it out in our news section at our website (see below). As said before, TNL is still in development and there is no planned release date that we will release on yet. But, that also means we are listening out for suggestions on our forums. Remember we want good role play suggestions. What job would you like to do within the game? Is there a business you want to be the owner of? There are many possibilities within the mod that will allow so much interaction between players that they will most likely never get bored. There are many things to do, and if you want to know just some of them then check out our website and forum! May we take this opportunity to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! :) Regards, TNL Team Edited December 25, 2009 by Deadfast

jasono 0 Posted December 25, 2009 (edited) Merry Christmasbut seriously, what is the point of an rpg that mirrors real life ? The point is that not everyone can own their own business, break the law, be a police officer etc in real life. You could say what is the point of a game that tries to provide a player a realistic battlefield enviourment like real life? OFP, ArmA and ARMA2 is not everyones cup of tea and we don't think TNL will be either. We have a bit of interest of those interested in the mod. little question:Why do all call RPG missions-mods??? all avaible "rpg" missions are more like "The Sims" online and this it sounds so too:confused: It will most likely be a 'mod' as in Modification because it will not just be a mission. There will be additional content such as weapons (tazer) and other items such as a speedgun for traffic officers and new textures. The GUI may also face a small change to suit the theme of TNL.
