Third Infantry Division Recruiting!

Greetings and thank you for your interest in the 3rd ID! I am Captain Gavin Townsend, Commanding officer, and 8 year veteran of the 3rd Infantry Division, an ArmA2 tactical realism unit.

What is the 3rd ID?

The 3rd ID has been in existence for nearly 9 years. We have weathered many games, starting with the Day of Defeat beta back in 2001, up through nearly the entirety of the Call of Duty series (up to CoD4). But now we have taken a long awaited foray into the world of "real" tactical realism, ArmA2.

For years the 3rd ID has been a respected member of all of the communities it has been a part of. We founded tactical realism in Day of Defeat and brought to life the realism community in Call of Duty.

Our members are held to the highest expectations of excellence and discipline in the eyes of the community, and as such, the results have been very favorable to our unit on the whole. We enjoy the generous friendships of many long standing ArmA2/ArmA divisions and communities such as the 1st Infantry Division the 31st MEU and the Armed Global Warfare tournament community among others.

What can you expect as a member of the 3rd ID?

In the 3rd ID we believe that developing a strong sense of community and brotherhood goes a long way in maintaining the longevity and success of a unit. For this reason, we focus a lot of attention of developing these connections between our members. Mutual respect and the ability to work well and productively with others is a requirement of the 3rd ID. You will be surprised at how strong the bonds that you develop with your fellow Marne Dogs become.

The 3rd ID utilizes a ranking structure similar to the US Army. Ranks and positions in the 3rd ID are earned through hard work and dedication, not time and how many kills you get. Each rank in the 3rd ID comes with expectations. Our Corporals are expected to be able to lead and be outstanding role models for the rest of our men. Our Sergeants work hard to maintain order while at the same time helping to lead our men to victory in game and out. Because we are selective (but fair) about promotions, each rank has an underlying respect bound to it. As such, our men understand the position of their superiors and subordinates, and grant them the respect of their rank. Officers are saluted and referred to as sir, and Sergeants and up are referred to by their rank, among many other things.

What will I get out of the 3rd ID that I couldn't get elsewhere?

We often joke that the 3rd ID is the place that people sometimes come from other units to finally retire. Upon entering our ranks, they understand that they have found the unit they have been seeking for so long. The 3rd prides itself on its men, and its many achievements, as well as its openness to accepting new members and bringing them into the brotherhood that we have developed.

As I said previously, we have been around for nearly 9 years. Over this time we have evolved into a place where, simply, people can come to have fun and be in a good environment. We are 100% drama free (A big claim, I know). Namely due to our recruiting process where we are very selective about who we let in. Only those recruits who show devotion and dedication as well as a strong positive attitude and motivation are ultimately accepted.

One of the biggest things you can expect out of the 3rd ID is a sense of achievement and respect. Working hard to better yourself and those around you within the 3rd ID is just one of the many personal rewards that this unit offers to those who are willing to strive to achieve them.

The 3rd ID has no age restriction we simply look at the maturity level of our potential recruits and judge them based on the content of their character.
