Thread: Shadow Inconsistency [Build 59928]

    Shadow Inconsistency [Build 59928]

This isn't exclusive to this beta build but it is something that distracts the player. Here's a vid.

See how the shadow map of the hanger disappears a couple feet from the player? It's not a major bug (or a new bug) just a graphical problem that might be able to be fixed before the next patch is finalized.

I've seen this in forests too, although it's not all of the time and seems to be dependent on which direction/angle the sun is as far as I can tell. It seems to do it at the "boundaries" where the grass changes to higher LOD's

Looks like a driver issue to me, I cannot see this on my Nvidia 8800 GTS 512 MB with drivers 191.7.

I do see shadows pop away and back again when i move in different angles and with zooming. It happens with building shadows and tree shadows and it has been there since ArmA1 i think.

Shadows dont "move" to me though like in the video.

That happens to me too. Weird thing is that it stops once you set shadows to normal.. but light differences don't affect you so you walk in dark places with an eerie glow around you!

happened to me once, restarting the client fixed it.

happened to mee too, after playing roughly half an hour. I thought it´s related to my overclocked graphic card. It´s an issue i have since summer, with different drivers and different arma2-patches. Sometimes it stays away. I can fix it to restart arma2 or to set shadow from veryhigh to normal.

This is constant on my comp. Noticed it for a long time. I'm on the latest 191.07 drivers with a GTX285. It's only visible in third-person view as you can see in the new video below:

Does anyone elses shadows disapear when turning around? Say you stand close to a forest and have tree shadows coming on the ground past you - now turn away from the trees and look on the ground. Some or all tree shadows just disapear in some angles.

Not really a big problem, but it has been there since even ArmA1. I dont remember how it was in OpF.
