    RKSL Studios - WIP Discussion

I've been delaying making this thread until we have something substantial to show, but its come to my attention that there are lots of rumours flying around again. So I thought I'd let people have access to some truth and facts for a change.

We are still here and working. We've taking the time learn the ArmA2 Engine. For those that don't read the RKSL site regularly we've stopped supporting ArmA1 and are now solely focused on ArmA2. I'm slowly porting all the projects over and updating our website as I go.

Just like with ArmA1 we're focusing on the British kit again but there are already some "International" projects on the table (more about that on another day). All the UK projects listed below are in game and working so some extent. Most are WIP but some are much closer to release than others. And some rely on scripted system that are still in development.

    RAF Projects:

    Royal Navy

    Army air Corps:

    British Army:
    • MAN Trucks (Mostly specialised stuff) - New for ArmA2
    • Panther CLV (UKF don't have one so i thought id make one - 50% atm) - New for ArmA2
    • Rapier FSC

Common Weapons Packs - using Myke's IWAS Standards
    • UK Air Weapons Pack - New for ArmA2 - all the weapons and pylons used by the UK
    • EU Air Weapons Pack - New for ArmA2 - all the EU weapons and pylons used by RKSL (non RAF) aircraft eg IRIS-T, Penguin ASM etc

    * Its assumed that BIS have taken care of the US ones.

    Systems:
    • Countermeasures Plugin - Adds flare to all enabled aircraft
    • ArmA2.pbo (Common enabler plugin so that BIS units can use all RKSL systems e.g. Countermeasures and Cargo system etc)
    • Cargo System - As per ArmA1, a system to allow objects to be loaded and transported around the map)
    • UAV System - New for ArmA2 - new MP focused UAV system. Provides a new method of using UAV's in a more realistic way for large MP games.

    Release Schedule
If you want details of Release dates etc please check the Website here

    Jobs:
    Texture Artist

We're looking for a reliable Texture artist. Ideally you should have had some experience with the ArmA engine but its not essential. We're looking for someone to create good quality textures, normal and spec maps for our projects. You should be able to provide samples of your artwork. We'd like someone who is enthusiastic, motivated and honest with a mature approach to the job.

We've always been a small team but right now we have too many models and not enough textures so if you are interested please PM or email me for a chat.

We are UK based but location isn't important to us. Just a promise to finish what you start. No bullshit artists or beta collectors need apply.

As always Rock, great to hear about your projects. I think I can honestly say that your addons have a certain fidelity that I don't think is matched in quality by others, keep up the good work! Also, how come you guys are making MAN trucks? I thought that UKF were making them? Or are they special variants related to more RAF things?
Formerly known as bootneckofficer! (Thanks W0lle/Placebo)

Thank you, we do try to make everything as accurate as we can and still be practical in the engine.

Last i heard UKF were remaking their MAN trucks but i needed some for a side project so I made some (HX60 etc) so i could use them in the OP: DW project with some mates. It sadly never went very far but i wanted to use them base for some ideas i was kicking around too. So it worked out in the end. But the ArmA2 varients are mostly aircraft and supply related. Fuel bowsers and specialised support trucks etc. Depending on what UKF want to do I might release the troop varients too. It wouldnt be hard to convert them.

Wow! That is quite a list you guys have there and each one you have wip's for look absolutely fantastic! Great to see the amount of focus on perfect airframe shapes, top-notch modelling and the textures look beautiful. Amazing work with these, can't wait to see more from you guys, especially knowing the level of reputation and respect the team holds within the ArmA community.

WOW I can't wait!! Glad to see you're still making great work!

Do you think you'd ever make a Bandvagn 206 at any time?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bandvagn_206

I know the Marines still use them, amongst other european countries and think it would fit in very nicely into Chernarus, especially if someone made a winter island!

Husky, previously know as Navistar MXT-MV (Military Extreme Truck - Military Version). The Americans know how to think up a catchy name don't they?

Anyway, I snapped the above here in the UK as the vehicle was on it's way to Dytecna. There's going to be hundreds of them in the sandbox in the coming years.

Just a thought if you're not busy. :P

Any chance of explaining whats the story with Starstreak and in what way is it designed to be used? I noticed you don't list it along side the Rapier. Is it true it can be used as a MANPAD, it looks a little big for that.

    Awesome aircraft btw. Cheers!
