Kneeling accuracy with iron sights / holo.

Hey, I have been having issues with aiming through iron sights while kneeling. When im using iron sights while kneeling it seems that the gun moves forwards and backwards.

The gun sometimes sways so badly that the rear sights do not even come close to matching up with the front sights on the gun. Has anyone else noticed this problem?

It happens everytime in the kneeling position, but not in the standing or prone. I have made sure that I was not tired or winded while trying this multiple times. Also holding your breathe doesn't seems to help with lining up the rear sights with the front sites while kneeling.

Anyone else notice this problem or know a way to fix it?

    It's not a bug, it's a feature

Kneeling isn't the most stable position in the world.

I just tried and you're right OP, the sight actually sways more when kneeling than it does when standing up.

its not so much just sway, its more that the sights actually get misaligned, making it very difficult to get accurate shots off

This wouldn't be so annoying if they done the reflex sights properly

I'm more stable while crouching IRL...
It is a bug. there's the same problem when standing with AT weapons and it also seems to affect pistols in every stance. Also, this doesn't affect 2D scopes.

I've highlighted this problem with some of the guys I play with in CFARMA2.

There is definately a problem with kneeling and using the sights!

Using iron sights the back sight loses alignment with the front sight and is made even worse if you use the ironsights on a slope. (Try it and see how much more the alignment is thrown out of whack)

The solution I find now when playing games, is to go prone if the situation warrants it. (WHich is rare) The only other way is to stay stand up. If your standing the sights will hardly move at all...Even using the Red Dot sight.(which also moves alot when kneeling)

I have noticed though that any sniper rifles or DMR's are not effected in the slightest. Kneeling offers a more stable platform than standing..So this is correct, it's just the other Assault weapons which seem to be a problem.

Also another gripe is the amount of reflection in the sights if either the Sun or Moon is behind you... During battles our entire squad was wiped out as we only had RedDot sights and playing Expert level we had no floating projected sights, so none of us could see anyone through the sights as the moonlight caused too much reflection. (Obviously knowing this now, plays into our tactics and we would then consider a reverse slope defense hoping the acute angle limits any reflections...or we flank wide to come in from behind)

Just my thoughts on the matter.....

I hope maybe in a future patch this Mis-matching sights are addressed, it's not a game killer, but it is annoying.

I'd actually want MORE mismatched sights in the game to give more realistic marksman issues, but agreeably the incredibly severe sideways misalignment from merely kneeling isn't the best implementation :P

Allso scoped rifles are more stable if crouched in ArmA2 (and if you aim with the "crosshair" you are more accurate (the 2 lines are closer) so i don't get the logic)... If it would be the same with all rifles and just the whole rifle moves (no tilt of the sight line), it would be ok for me. But like this people which like to shoot with ironsight rifles/reddot/holosight, going in cover behind something crouched, makes hitting something nearly impossible.

It's certenly not realistic that a trained soldier would misaligne the sights of an assaultrifle so much, he can't even see the whole sights and with a M107 he's perfectly fine shooting and crouching, it's just nonsense. Even more if he has a heavy load on his back. Misalignement would be good for me if the soldier would be hurt, exhausted or under heavy fire, not when he's crouching... Even when your completely wasted and out of breath, you can shoot more precise, because there's no misalignement. I think most people like to shoot with scoped weapons or the crosshair, so they don't care about this.
So there's no argument for "this is a feature". And if it's a feature: It's bugged or just a feature without any logic
