How to get AI to follow

I have read through the manual and I can't get my AI to follow me. I tell them to regroup and the confirm and then do nothing. If it tell them to move here they comply but they won't follow me.

I have tried changing formation and then telling them to regroup and nothing.

For some reason my squad leader shows "mount" above him maybe this is messing up my squad. I did drive a car to get closer in but got out, don't know how to make that go away either.

Any help?

I have two scenarios in mind (both of which have been discussed before at some point).

1. I've run into missions where, after I die and respawn as another member of the group, I'm no longer in command. I then hit the 0-1 or 1-0 key combinations and my characters says "Waiting" and I'm back in command.

2. The much more common scenario is that they're just too slow to keep up. If this is true, use the Advance command on your squad. They will keep up much better. If they get too far ahead, just hit the "fall back into formation" command.

In trying out some missions I've never played before, I did run into one where my me just stood in a line and refused all commands. It was real weird - I just moved on to the next mission.

Try a tight formation, Delta or Compact column. Oh ya, and make sure u're the ranking personnel

I figured it out, my leader was stuck in mount mode. I had to go get in/out of the card and now my troops follow me though sometimes their common sense is lacking.

P.S.

I shoot squad members in the legs if they don't follow commands. They usually normal up.
