Thread: A 'nam slang thing and a movie music question

  1. #1
Well I was just watchin' a 'nam movie the other evening and a soldier on said Semper Fi. And that got me thinkin' where I could find a site that has those words and some other slang from 'nam. Does anyone of ya know?
And then the other question. If anyone of you have seen the movie Preadotr then here is the question; What's the song called that they play on the chopper when they are been taken to the jungle?

    Thanks.

Semper Fi isn't slang. Its the Marine credo (in Latin).

Damn it....forgot what it means though....something about Brotherhood i think.
To doubt everything or to believe everything are two equally convenient solutions; both dispense with the necessity of reflection.

Semper Fi is the United States Marines motto.

    It means Always Faithful.

I wonder how many marines wives during the Nam war would agree.

Semper Fi is short for Semper Fidelis, which, like he said, means "Always Faithful".

I suggest you watch Full Metal Jacket, because it is a badass (but disturbing) Nam movie.

    Gunnery Sergeant Hartman, FMJ

Actually, it's one of the best WAR movies, period. ***

Does anyone know where to find a region 1 encoded DVD of Full Metal Jacket in -=WIDESCREEN=-?

All I can find anywhere is the pan and scan version. ***I havent seen the whole movie since the theater.

I must of seen FMJ in the theaters over a dozen times by now.. I'm lucky, there's a cinema near my house that only plays "old" movies, and they play FMJ at least 3 times a year, and I go every time it plays.
