Direct 3d error cant play arma2

I am having trouble getting the game to run. I get the error cannot create direct 3d graphics engine. I have tried changing drivers using driver cleaner pro. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling and still no luck.

I am running a 30 inch monitor at 2560X1600 resolution and was wondering if that might be the problem. My graphics card is a nvidia gtx 285 FTW and my cpu is a Phenom II black edition with 4 gigs of RAM. All my other games run fine but no Arma2.

Any ideas would be helpful. Also I have uninstalled nhancer and it did not make any difference.

    Thanks

Will it run at any other resolutions?

    4 x 500GB Raptor SATA
    Windows 7
    Asus 25.5" Monitor
    X-Fi Extreme Sound

I tried changing resolutions with no luck. I also edited the cfg file changinf resolutions and that didn't work either. I tried very low resolutions and it does the same thing. when I run the game I get the little progress marks across the screen then it goes to black like its going to start but then crashes back to desktop with error.

Have you tried the direct x installer that sits on the cd?
I've seen it fix various issues on friends pc's.
BTW running it at your monitor's native resolution will probably give you grand performance issues.

    Hi zzcar,

Did you ever resolve your issue? I'm getting the same error in XP 32 with an Nvidia GTX 280 1gig card. No problems with any other games on my system (and I have a lot!). Both older and newer titles run fine, except this one! I'm running the 182.xx drivers.

Has anyone solved this? What drivers are being used successfully with the 200 series cards?
Luckily I have a dual boot system with Vista 32 and it is running on it, although a bit slow. I rarely see frame rates above 35 and they dip to as low as 15 with lots of AI bots present. I’m running on medium settings.

I really don’t want to uninstall Nhancer as I have a lot of custom profiles to get my older games to run.
I've installed the runtime direct 3D from the ARMA2 DVD but that did not help.

    Any suggestions are much appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Woofer99
